In all seriousness apparently Kemper and crew found a bug in their profiling algorithm which basically jacked the bass frequencies too much resulting in profiles with too much bass (surprising I know). They fixed it in this firmware and there is a global fix as well as fixes for future profiling. What I found is the sound is pretty much completely changed.. ! I don't know whether to laugh or cry after like 2.5 years of using this thing. I think its almost like getting a whole new device.. at least in sound quality.

Needeless to say, the firmware fucking rocks and makes the Kemper more realer than real and definitely more real.

Good to hear! Not sure which version I have right now...

oh crap, I hope the global fiz is easy....I made so many profiles

But what does this mean for old profiles? Are they going to get jacked by the new firmware?

I can't remember how to upgrade....

Put a USB Drive into the Kemper. After a few seconds the Kemper creates some folders on it. Take it out and plug it into your computer. Download the Firmware update from the Kemper site. Take the KAOS.BIN file in the 2.6 firmware folder and put into the "OS Update" folder that was created on your USB Drive. Put the drive back into the Kemper and after a few seconds it will ask you if you want to update the firmware on the Kemper. Press the "Yes" button and wait.

If by changed, yes, there is a global toggle, old sound or new. Most people like the new tones better but if you have been tweaking then you probably wont like change.

+1

It's that easy.

I just don't care about the "more real" sound of the Kemper even if it is a bit tongue in cheek. Sounds good no matter what updates are done. I don't use it to compare it against tube amps. I find a tone I want, plug in and play until I'm tired. Do the same thing with my tube rig.

I'll put it like this, the bottom end on pretty much all the profiles is different and better. FAR tighter with more real wallop and less bass push. To my ear it sounds dead on to a recorded amp and less like an amp in the room tone (which tends to have far more bass).

Also, since the bass frequencies arn't pushed as much the mids and treble are better. You can hear it clearly at higher volumes.

LESS LOW END:
Due to a software flaw from day one, a number of existing profiles feature a little too much energy in the region below 60 Hz, when compared to the original amp. The effect is very subtle and the basic character of the profile is generally not affected. Nonetheless, we have taken the opportunity to correct this with the latest firmware. The result is an increased authenticity, even of profiles created previously, and an improved performance - especially when played through a speaker system with a linear response down to the lowest frequencies, such as a PA, or studio monitor system.

Since we know that sonic improvements are not necessarily perceived as such by those who are familiar with the original sound, we have also added an option to compare the two versions, and to disable the correction if desired. Go to page 8 in the System Menu and activate softbutton “LFC Off”. It will illuminate to show the correction is disabled. If pressed again, the frequency correction will be reactivated. The correction (or its cancellation) will be applied globally, and not on a per-rig basis. Please be aware that a reset of global parameters (“Init Globals”) will bring the frequency correction back into effect. Profiles captured by this or future firmware version will take full advantage of this improvement. When you disable the frequency correction, this will only affect profiles created using earlier firmware version.

MORE LOW END:
In response to some users complaining about a lack of bass response when a tube amp is profiled, we have found a way to improve the profiling algorithm. You will notice that less effort is needed in the profiling refinement procedure, as well as a moderate improvement in authenticity, even without refining. Although this improvement also affects the bass response of profiles, it is not related to the improvement described above. Please note: this improvement will only affect new profiles captured by the latest firmware. Existing profiles and rigs will not be affected, and will keep the sound that you are familiar with.

Quite a large change imo. Be interesting to see how this falls out.

I'm picking up my new non-powered rack on Thurs. Can't wait!!!

I love me KPA more and more each time I turn the thing on.

You will love it! Just spend a LITTLE time tweaking.. It does not take much. Top Jimi Profiles have some killer marshall profiles, and fenders!
