I wonder, those of you who have been happily using your kempers - which FRFR did you eventually end up using it with?
Been running a Friedman ASM12 and even with the low cut @ 100hz, it still sounds pretty dark and woofy. I end up using +2db of mids and trebles on the monitor kemper out by default which helps a lot.

Many people seem to like the atomic CLR, but that company seems to be dead, no options to order plus Andertons who had been supplying these a year ago seem to have stopped supplying them.

I'm based in Europe and the more I'm using my Kemper, the less I like the friedman ASM. I think it worked well with the thinner sounding helix when I had it, but with the kemper, I'd like to get a lot more of a closer reference to know how to tweak it.
We have a pair of JBL EON615s and I can't say I like the tone I'm hearing when using it with the kemper. They sound very loud, but the tonal quality is just fizzy, buzzy almost artificial and you can tell it's a small plastic enclosure

I spend 90% of my time in the heavy territory and I don't mean my wife

I don't own a Kemper, but when I had an AX8 I felt the same way when I played through FRFR speakers. I liked it much more when I ran it through a real speaker cab with the cab sim off, and powered by a separate power amp.
I know another RTer that runs his through a 4x12 too and loves it.

IMHO the ol' Yamaha DX series should give you some of that naturalness and forward-mid quality you've been missing, man.

You could audition the 10" or 12" version (I'd consider the 15" best-suited to bass) and if you like what you hear either buy now or perhaps wait for the MkII models which are either just-out or due shortly AFAIK.

Call me old-fashioned, but I reckon you can't go wrong with Yamaha in this case - plenty of grunt, natural sound, robust, reliable and sensibly-priced. Alternatives seem to come and go, but the Yammies have and will remain.

All that said, Kemper will be releasing its own FRFR systems to be used in conjunction with the forthcoming Kemper Kone firmware component of the OS. This promises to take the amp-in-the-room experience to the next level of authenticity IMHO, but please don't ask me for details as I've not followed developments this year since NAMM when it was announced.

If you're interested, check out the official thread on it here:

I use and ASM-10 and ASC-10. I find the 10" version of the Friedman monitors to be so much better. I had an outdoor gig playing live with them today and it was perfect!

I have tried all the different types of FRFR speakers and to me something was missing tone wise. I run my kemper through a 2 12 cab with a V30 and a greenback speakers with an orange power baby power amp and its great.

I have a power head and I play through a Diezel 4x12 and a Bogner 4x12. I tried all the studio monitor and atomic setups and they were always lacking.

I only play at home though so no experience with actual gigging like some.
