Im going to be getting a Kemper head in the very near future. I'm going with a powered version because I want to be able to use it with my 4x12. I'm not sure whether the stock Kemper Powerhead or a used Kemper with the Camplifier 180 would be a better choice. Anyone here have any experience with the Camplifier 180? I would also like to hear some comments on the Kemper Powerhead if you have anything you'd like to say about it. Thanks for any input!!

I confirmed with Kemper that the tone is the same whether you get the powered head or the camplifier. The only thing is the camplifier is less power I beleive, but you do have a stereo option with the camplifier...so.... I am debating the camplifier vs Matrix GM50 myself (I have anon powered head as I saved a lot buy buying a used one)

I would use the Powerhead. The Camplifier uses your stereo outs, so you'll lose the option of running a dry center cabinet with stereo cabs. It may not be an issue for you, since most use a mono rig live anyway. The Powerhead is cool for the fact that you can nix the cab simulation at the center, and then engage the cab sim to the stereo speakers only.

I posted a couple of RK100 profiles on the Kemper Rig Exchange... They're free to download, so check 'em out! :)

Tip: When you're profiling, mic placement is key. Keep your mic close to the cabinet.

I run a simple guitar>amp>cab -mono setup so I'm not to worried about loosing that capability. Thanks for the heads up tho.

I think 180 watts is fair amount of watts to power one 4x12 considering a 100 watt tube head is more than loud enough.
