Don't you wish you were here?

Any fans?

A couple DSL's is what Geordie is running tonight.
Looks like an amp switcher, volume, noise gate, some multi effects?

The album they put out a few years back with Grohl on the kit was amazing! i have not heard the latest with the original lineup yet

I freaking LOVE Killing Joke!

The one from 2003 w/ Grohl is definitely one of their best. The newest one (Absolute Dissent) is excellent from a writing standpoint (provided you "get" K.J.), but the production has a really "hollowed out" sound to it. Some odd things happening w/ the midrange on the entire mix. (sometimes being a mastering engineer can really take the joy out of being a listener :( )

Geordie is one of my favorite rhythm players ever, but his tone can be a little too chorused-washed out on some albums.

If you've never heard it you should check out (for the tunes, not the tones) "Extremities, Dirt, and Various Repressed Emotions" from 1990. Great album, has Paul Raven (R.I.P.) on bass, and Martin Atkins on drums.
I'm pretty sure it was recently re-mastered and re-released.

Cool, didnt realize they released a new album a couple days ago. Gonna dl it tonight.

This is funny,my long time friend,Troy played in killing Joke awhile ago and we were talking about Ted Parsons and Paul Raven the other day,and how guys would exit Prong and play with killing joke, and viseversa. Good shit indeed!

Don't forget to add Ministry to that musical merry-go-round!

BTW, when & what did your friend play in K.J.? Any interesting stories about Jaz Coleman or Raven?

Really dig them and have since the early "80's, we're living in the aaaaaty's"

Even though it might be considered one of their more slick efforts I think Nightime from '85 is one of their best. Love Like Blood was a killer song to dance to to and it got the hot chicks in black vinyl on the dance floor.

Jaz Coleman's voice has gotten pretty hardcore over the years. I hope he hasn't lost the ability to sing clean because he can actually sing some really nice melodies. I think the last time I saw them was at the old Rock Candy in Seattle on the Pandemonium tour. Geordie was playing through Marshall JMP-1 preamps and using a sweet Gibson 295.

I still remember how cool it was in Weird Science in the theatre when Eighties started during the party.

I'm a total Killing Joke fanboy, I remember saving my lunch money and buying Night Time on cassette when it came out! There are some great tracks on that album. One of the things I like about them is that they're never been afraid to try things. Some albums are poppy-dancey, some are industrial, and some are just plain heavy.

There are a couple of mellower tracks on the new album (and one straight-up dance track), and Jaz can still hit the nice clean stuff (live too). His voice has almost gotten better and more diverse over the years.

Love this demo track

Anyone know where to download those demo tracks ?

Yeah, that demo is awesome, Geordie's riffs really "take you somewhere" IMHO.
I had heard that Geordie was going to put out a solo album with some of that stuff, but it doesn't seem like it's going to happen at this point.
I would love to get ahold of this track too if anyone knows where to grab it.

If you like them, you owe it to yourself to see them live at least once!
