In the early 90's Eddie used striped 5150's on stage (I'm guessing just dummy backline). There are pix from an ad, as well as footage from the MTV music awards and the free Texas show (I think that was '93?)

Anyway - I saw a post a while back (online somewhere), where the guy who did the work on them posted. I cannot for the life of me find it.

I reached out to James Brown, Jim Decola & Tom Weber - all had good info but no solid answers (all great guys to even reply to me too!)

Does anyone have any info on the fate of these cabs & heads?

I'm not. Nobody would pay a royalty to wrap a cab.

Not when I can fake it with duct tape all the same.

Yeah it's not like those cabs are some beloved collectible like early marshall cabs either.

I'm pretty sure there was one on my local FB marketplace for free a couple months ago.

Just duct tape it and rattle can it.

I guess ... if you wanted a spray painted cab .... I would rather have actual vinyl/tolex ....

I just spent a few minutes looking .... I figured there would be at least a knock off version in vinyl ....

I didn't find one

The reason i was asking is I came across one.. just trying to see if it might be legit rather than a spray job.

AHH okay that makes the OP make a lot more sense - I guess the first check would be serial numbers or speaker dates?

That way you could find out if the cab is period correct

Then if it IS, THEN you can start on figuring out if it's legit

According to James Brown, they did white Vinyl & sprayed them. 16 Striped heads & 4x12's. And he can't remember if any of the striped heads were dummies.

No serial on this one and James B didn't recall if they were serialized. Guess the tell will be if they are white tolex...

But I swear on a Facebook group or somewhere, the guy who did them posted.. and he had pics of pretty much all of them. was hoping to match up the pattern...
No biggie. Guess if I grab it, it's time to form a VH tribute! bwahahahaha

I would check the seams to see if that OG tolex is white then!

I guess if you're in it for more than $200, I'd pass. A true EVH fan would make their own.

Painted for sure just like James Brown said...

There's a 80s Honda I've seen driving around locally covered with the frankenstrat theme paint job. :ROFLMAO:
