Just curious, what kinds of guitars/pickups are you guys using into
your Friedman Marshalls/Marshas? High output or more vintage style?
I'm personally finding lower powered guitars sound better thru my SLP
modded Marshall (HBE-BE-C45). My gain is usually set at around noon.

My Suhr Classic with all FLs is great thru this amp, while I have a LP
with Duncan Distortions that sounds, well OK. (for example)

What say you Rig Talk?

Lower output pick ups are always better with high gain amps period. all ways bigger sounding. Of course if you use the Brown eye it is a little more forgiving then the HBE. My favorite pickup is the Motor City Second Degree Blackbelt. For a hooter one the MC afwayu pickup. Dave

I can agree with lower outputs work good but let me tell ya
the WCR Ironman KILLS with the Marsha.

Yeah that a good pickup also

Right on! I think the Iron man hits the front end just right in Brown Eye.
In my other Paul I have WCR American Steel's which can do it all with the Marsha.
Godwood/Marsha will turn a vegetarian into a canninbal  :D

Good to know I'm not on crack! ;)

Thanks guys. I'm thinkin' my Les Pauls are a little too high output.
Easy fix though :)

BTW I'm using C45 like 99% of the time. Nice top end

Really? With some EQ adjusting I find all guitars with different
pickups work good with the Marsha.
I think the Pauls are THE match.

What pickups are in your Lesters?

Actually I guess I'm referring to the Duncan LP, my other two have
the Suhr SSH+, and sound pretty darn good!

The other guitars in question have EMGs, I'm not digging those with
the mods, maybe I need to tweek some more. I think I'm getting tired
of that sound, that could be part of it. :scared:

That's what its gotta be. cuz even BK Painkillers sound kick ass with the Marsha.

Yeah man, I've never tried the BK stuff, I heard a recent clip with the
Mules I thought sounded great. And of course I was there at the
Steve Stevens show, the tone was stupid good.

I use an LP with Aldridge PU's. They kill the Brown Eye. :uzi:

The Suhr Modern in my avatar has the Adlrich pups too. They rock the
5 way that's for sure. So many sounds it's nutz.

Dave (& everybody else) don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about
the mods, I just think my ears are changing & it's good to get
feedback. I'm just liking clearer pickups these days, and my Friedman
I think is just driving that point home. I used to love EMGs for the
gain, sustain and all that. But I can do that now with an OD in front.

The most fun sound so far on my SLP is the FL loaded Classic. It's like
instant Landau 'Burning Water' era...which of course, rocks.

Cool yeah man what ever you like into the amp. I for one do not care for EMG's doesn't mean they would not be perfect for someone. Have fun with the tweaking. Dave

Yeah Dave, that's the joy of it...we're all different and like different
things. Life would suck if everybody sounded the same. ;) My
appreciation for EMGs may be ending, but I'm discovering cool sounds
with other stuff I would have overlooked in the past.

Thanks for the Fat Switch and answering all my questions!
