My KK++ Marshall JCM800 blew a tube or two (JJ El34's) and I just got it back loaded with SED Winged C's. What a difference different tubes can make. It is more aggressive, open sounding, and brighter. Sounds close as possible to a real Marshall as best as possible since it is a total rebuild. Dan and a former RT remember provided me with excellent support especially the later since I took the amp over his house and he offered to help me out with the amp. What a great male individual!!!

Best tubes out there
Would love to hear a clip of that beast

I have to agree with you!!! Pricey, but worth it!!! I will try to get some clips via my wife's or daughter's iPhone over the Xmas holiday.

Nice!

Glad to hear you got them.

Thanks!!!! Definitely changes the voicing of this amp compared to the JJ EL34's.

I'm glad you're enjoying the beast.

I hope you find some other tubes you really love, because SED Winged =C= tubes are out of production with no return date according to the three people I purchase tubes from.

Yeah I am aware of that, but I will buy some backups soon.

Man I am bummed out about the c's. I was pissed when the price went up, but at least they weren't NOS prices. Certain amps just work so well with them. I have an amp I tried the winged =c= in, and it sounds killer. I wish I never tried them in it now. Gonna have to try the gold lion kt77 when these start getting tired.

I don't think they are worth the price anymore but I am letting my GAS and recommendations of them wain at this point anyway. I hear they are great with amps that have high plate voltages. I have SED =C= EL34s in my Splawn. I don't really notice that much difference tonally.

I'm letting them go too... it's inevitable they need to be replaced, so I just need to find a new favorite EL34. I've always preferred Russian 6L6/5881.

Well the KK++ Marshall does have high plate voltages so they work great. Dan recommended these or the Tung Sol so I went with the Winged Cs. They sound way different than the JJ 6CA7s that came with the amp. The JJs were darker and bassier. I liked them but I need tubes that can last a little longer.

I've actually grown to love JJ tubes. When Dave was modding my amp, I asked for Winged C's because they're so aggressive but he convinced me to try the JJ 34's. I used to hate JJ tubes but they just work so damn well with my 71'.

The flip though is one of the best sounds I ever had was my 84' JCM 800 (2204) with Winged C 34's. It was so tight and aggressive.

Same

I'm really tempted to get some JJ EL34Ls next time and Laura used to praise those Ruby EL34 BSTRs

The JJ EL34's do sound pretty badass in the Atomica IMO!!! I do not know if they are the JJ EL34Ls though?

Well my 1983 JCM 800 is not a stock JCM 800 anymore but the SED Winged C's in it make it more aggressive than the JJs that came with the amp!!

I don't know if it's Dave's mod that's aggressive or the JJ pairing.

Glad you got the tubes though Rob. Clips man! Get the iPhone!

I have been curious to try the c's in my freidman thinking that maybe they will brighten the amp up a little more like a Marshall. I wonder if the jj's are a good match for an already dark voiced amp.

Not normally. I prefer C's in my Friedman
