Some may have read about my wiring woes last week with my KRANK Rev1 4x12. Well, I got it all hashed out and the cab is now pumping out juicy V30 goodness.
I replaced the stock Eminence V12 Legends with 2 Vintage 30's on top, and 2 Verteran 30's on the bottom.
I installed them this way because the cab is an oversized straight, and I really want/needed that Celestion cut as close to ear level as possible. In stock form, I found the cab to be too dark and murky sounding.
I didn't want a conflicting tone with an X pattern formation either. So since the Vet30's are smoother with less cut, they went in the bottom. The contribute nicely, but I mainly hear the Celestions up top.
Also, I rear loaded the speakers. Whereas the cab is originally designed as frontloaded. Now the sound isn't as directional/beamy, and I feel the low end is wider and fatter sounding.
I often hear of people wanting to put V30's in their Krank cabs, but only have found that Andy Sneap has actually done this. (Not sure if he rear loaded them though)
Anyways, the result is pure win. Great throaty grind, present, upfront mids and topend sizzle.
Everything the cab didn't have before.
Not many KRANK cab owners here, but try it if ya got it!
