I have an EVH 3 50 watt head and the mini EVH 3 LBX 15 watt head, even though the LBX is only 15 watts and has a switch to go down to 4 watts there really is very little difference in sound reduction,I have seen some ads about kruse kontrol mods doing the power scaling down to 1 watt on other heads,amps..does anybody here have experience with this mod ? I have had both heads for about 1 year,I bought them both brand new,I would only worry about the factory 5 year warranty being void due to any mods, and I live in a small town where the closest certified Fender/EVH tech is 2 hours, and they are booked forever,so really unsure what to do to get the cranked sound at minimal volumes.I have tried the Weber Mini Mass 50 watt attenuator and it was ok,but it did alter the tone considerably, and I don't like that ever! any info greatly appreciated!

I have had Jens work on my amp, and a friend did the same. It was a great experience and I'd go back to him. I haven't heard the power scaling mod though. That said, I'd recommend trying a Fryette Power Station. It works well for letting you crank your amp and keep the volume low. I've had a Weber Mass and the Power Station is better.

But otherwise if you want to have the amps modded, Jens is a good guy to go to.

Jens is very fast and professional

EDIT: He did the DeKompression Mod on my VH4

I had Jens do the works on my 5150 50w- it is on his site, the one with colored lights to match the channels
I also got the Stealth, Supersonic, Dual Gain/Volume Pots on 1/2, and Power Scaling.

The Power scaling is fantastic, it goes 50 25 15 7 3
Super useful and the tone stays great. It is fun to go to a lower wattage and stay on ch1 to crank it up for some surprisingly authentic retro 70s tones
But I usually stay on 50w hi gain chunk chunk

The dual gain & volume pots for ch1/2 is a must have for any 5150 50w owner IMO.
The Power Scaling is super effective if you need bedroom to stage volumes
Jens communication and turnaround time may be the best in the business. He gets amps out Freaky Fast!
I also had my DMoll worked on by Jens. I'm a fan of his work and will go back again.

On another note, the red channel (stock or modded) is a bit shall we say over the top and uncontrollable in band settings.
I spent a day tube swapping and found super success!
V2: JJ 12au7
V3: Sovtek LPS
This was awesome! It retains most of the ferocious girth and power but allows full use of the gain- cool tones from 9oclock to maxxed. I tried the original 12ax7 in V3 but that brought back some extra noise, so back to the LPS

I have the LPS in V5 and the rest stock

Jens did the power scaling mod on my old 2006 Quickrod. Fast and great communication. Almost daily let me know how it was going. It was seriously a week since he got it, until it was shipped back. I do live in CA.

Would defiantly do business with again. The power scaling was cool. It was still loud as fuck at 10w even. haha I never used my QR after that in 25, 50, or 100w mode. Always 5 or 10w. Sounded great.

Well I talked to Jens on Thursday, he sent me an email with the mods for my Lbx amp and I listened to some sound clips of his work, I have decided on the Super Sonic mod, the power scaling, the mod that seperates the red and blue channels and gives makes the blue or red channel have its own gain and volume control and the last mod making the original blue channel be able to turn into a clean channel by flicking the installed toggle switch, but still allows for the channel to flick back to original crunch sound. .the price is excellent, I had no idea, I figured a much higher price, and Jens did say fast turnover time..I really like the sound clips of the Super Sonic mod, overall the amp will just sound incredible after Jens works his Magic! I am glad I made the phone call to Kruse Kontrol!

I've heard nothing but great things about his work. Report back with the results!

Can't say enough good things about Jens from my experience. He worked on my amp and I also referred a friend to him. I visited his house on a few occasions to drop off and pick up my amp, and also to try out various Diezel models back when he was their US tech. Just a great guy with a lot of passion who turns out good work.

You'll have good luck with him. He modded the heck out of my 5153 50 watt and it KILLS now...lol

His mods are on my to do list after I get my Mesa fixed.

He does great work and is fast and actually communicates with you none of that awkward post amp drop off silence .
