KSR ARES used prices?

I'm kicking around the idea of scoring a KSR ARES. On Reverb, there's two new ones going for $1899 with free shipping. There's four USED ones going for between $1800 and $2200. Kyle just quoted me $1850, or $2050 with the metal panel and lit logo, and can deliver by late February. I may just buy a new one, but a reasonably priced used one isn't out of the question either. WTF is with these used prices that they're asking? Am I missing something here?

Yeah it’s the strangest thing. Last year I was on a huge KRS gas quest and wanted an Ares, but experienced same thing you’re seeing. I ended up with a used Artemis II for not a whole lot more than those “used” Ares prices. But if you get the timing right or wait long enough, one will usually pop up somewhere for between $1400-$1600.

Picked my ARES for quite a bit less than that maybe 8-9 months ago. I saw those on Reverb and those prices seem a bit ridiculous.

Awesome amp by the way Just a mean mean nasty sounding metal beast. The mids are very unique!. Don't how to describe it other than to say the mid voicing in this amp just sounds vulgar and distusting in a very good way

I noticed the same thing. A year or 2 ago someone sold an Ares around 1300 (or less?). That's a great deal but also an expected 35-50% off new prices.
A few months go by and I hope to get one....but the prices are not really discounted for used

I bet the guys who buy a guitar on reverb than turn around and try to sell it for hundreds more a few days later are bummed. there are some SHAMELESS guitar flippers. I just looked at knaggs guitars, and you can track the sales of guitars that have been bought and sold numerous times.

I can dig some vulgar and disgusting mids. The clips I've heard (yours included) sound downright vicious. Think I'm gonna have some fun with this one.

I can dig some vulgar and disgusting mids. The clips I've heard (yours included) sound downright vicious. Think I'm gonna have some fun with this one.

Good deal man! Its a cool amp. I smack the front of mine with a Ts9 with the drive@0 and level@ 9 o' clock, Just tightens the shit out of it. The amp is tight in its own right but like most needs a good bit of volume. I also tried my newly acquired Timmy in front of it and was really surprised how good it sounded; didn't expect that.

Edit: The fat, voice and bright switches make a huge difference in tone and feel which is really cool! I like running all three switches in the upper most position on both the blue or red ch. Gives ya a really thick low mid heavy tone with plenty of grind and cut. I got mine loaded with 6L6s in it and haven't got around to trying different flavors yet but do want to try it with El34s, Kt88s and Kt77s in the future.

Yeah, I love the fact that it'll take all different types of tubes. Definitely gonna experiment with that.

I have an Ares I am willing to part with. I own two, and got a really good deal on the second one. Willing to pass on the savings and do it for $1200. Its got some mods to it that have been removed. At one point there were holes drilled in the bottom to accommodate the 5150 III 50w head style amp clips. So there's 4 extra holes in the bottom on the underside. Barely noticeable. Other than that its in Excellent condition, some minor tolex blemishes but no tears. Amp functions 100% and has the Metal Field Panel and Light Up Logo. Let me know if you would be interested.

Thats a great price , i watched your vids actually little big rig and it sounded monster , what mods other than the chassis drill did you do ?? it sounded great in that vid was the amp stock 6l6 at that time ??
