What exactly is the reason to do the mod? I have darker sounding speakers. From youtube clips, I feel the KT-88 makes the amp sound a tad bit darker. If so, should I stick to an amp with EL-34's? I'm looking at two uber's $100 in price difference. Once has the KT-88 mod done and one is all EL-34's.
