Kt 88 try out . Framus cobra

well I modded my cobra with a bias switch for kt88/6550 tubes 10k resistor and a 22k stock value for el34 . I have tried JJ kt88,s , ruby 6550,s and EH kt88.

Now I despise JJ power tubes and never had any luck with them. My tubes of choice are rubys. Out of those mentioned the JJ's sound the best to me They are very neutral sounding across the board. The low end has a real punch to them solid and tight. The EH's sound good also but missing something . The 6550's sound good to but very smooth sounding.

Wonder if the JJ's will last .

Yes in the cobra they really did man. The KT88's sounded more like the big brother to el34's.

The best el34 in the cobra for me is the Ruby el34BHT. Bogner uses them and I believe diezel is using them now. They are designed for high plate voltage 550v to 600 etc. really great sounding tube!. I can't believe how good the JJ88's sound in the cobra.

Thats cool you like the 88's...Anytime I have tried 6550s they have a very angry low mid , not really a smooth sounding tube to me. I have owned a few Cobras in the past, I dig it. I also liked the Rubys alot in it. The JJ EL34s also sounded cool in it...not the E34L's the regular EL34s. I never tried KT88s or 6550s in a Cobra...Kt77s sounded ok but missing something in that amp.

Good luck finding =C= tubes. They don't make them any more . A lot of boot leg shit going around I was told. I tried C el34's and did not care for them. Very overrated if you ask me. The Ruby BHT sounded a lot better to me

They're not hard to get. The tube store has a shit ton. The problem is they jack up the price.

I played some bogners with the sed kt88 and they sounded amazing to me.

I went with KT77's in my Cobra and like them better than 34's.

Oh, and Diezel does not use the 34BHT anymore, JJ KT77's are stock now.

Winged C don't sound too good in the UL..on the Deliverance they do however i originally bought a quad for the UL,did not like the extended high frequencies, and ended up selling a pair, kept the other for the D

Good to know. I've only tried them in Uberscalls and they sounded great in those.

Ruby BHT's sounded a lot better then wings in my UBBER. Wing c tubes are over rated if you ask me
