I have the opportunity to pick one of these up for 450 shipped in new condition with warranty etc. I got the chance to play the 100 and it seemed very straight forward, slightly lacking in low end though that could have been tubes/speakers. Anyone have experience with the TT series amps? I have been after a good laney-esque tone for a while now, i was really trying to find an older VC-50 combo (which is the combo version of the VH100R), but no dice.

450 shipped is a great price. I've never owned one. but it's a great amp. does the 80s thing really really well. I remember it having a nice low end actually. it's definitely a laney though. I really recommend it

Hm okay. I dont know if you guys heard, but sweet water and zzounds (i think) just clearanced the 100 watt version out for 350 new. a blemished model, but gauranteed in working order and with full warranty. its just strange that 6 months ago they are 1800 new, and now i can pick one up for 450-500. the 100 watt one was no where near cranked, it had a ton of options, had a great mid-gain bluesy tone to it, and the clean channel was pretty nice. I feel like with the midi stuff a lot can go wrong with it inside though... maybe not..

Whoa I didn't hear that. that is crazy. I remember really liking it. but I liked my AOR more at the time. interesting

Reason I have been gassing for one is listening to some really old vinnie moore stuff (i think he was laney before he was on engl?), and kiko loureiro/angra stuff. I love some of the tones im hearing, and it is a WORLDD of difference than my dual rectifier and mark IV. way more organic and touch-responsive, not quite so compressed. I think Moore was using AORs back in the day, but a laney is a laney is a laney, it should have that similiar chimey voicing if i dial it right.

I owned a AOR for a long time. Laney's are definitely laney's. but the AOR is a little different and takes time to dial in. if you get one make sure NOT to skimp on tubes especially pre's. it's really just a souped up 800 so I'm not sure if thats what you're after but that's what it does. it's an 800 with more low end and more gain great lead tones

EDIT: if that made no sense.

The AOR is darker and gainier than most laneys but still does the laney thing nice for 300 bucks. highly underrated amps

I would like to have one, but the single channel thing is a no-no for me. I like 2 or 3 channels. The TT50h seems to be very very diverse in what it can do with the seperate master volumes/reverb/gain on each channel, it might be one of those things that can do a little bit of everything but nothing extremely well. it will make a good cheap backup amp for sure though.

Well, it's TECHNICALLY 1 channel but it has a push pull pot that goes between the high and low gain so it's two channels really. it is extremely versatile surprisingly.

But I have no beef the the TT50 I would recommend it. especially for what you're asking it'll be good.
