Does anyone have experience with both amps? I have a 5150 (head) now, and considering getting a Laney VH100R. I need a clean channel. Does the VH100R have a good low end thump like the 5150's do?

Thanks

No. It's kinda bright and more inline with a gainey Marshall tone than the 5150. Let me clearify this a little. The Laney does not sound like a Marshall but IMHO if you like a Plexi then you'll dig the Laney. It's bright ang cutting with a nice midrange. Paul Gilbert and Andy Timmons used to use these amps.

I had a VC50 and it just didn't have the bass response I was looking for. I thought that the 100 watt might have better bass response having more headroom.

Imo you're probably barking up the wrong tree if the VC50 didn't do it for you. Have you ever tried a Budda SD80? The Budda may be what you're looking for.

I have a 5150 and a Splawn Quickrod. The Splawn definately has some hefty low end that stays tight and focused. It also has a ton of gain that is clear and articulate
