This is just a warning in case you’re considering getting a Lava cable.

I had an instrument cable from them for several years, and it was lightly used. One day it developed a problem (static noise when one end was moved). I suspected it was an intermittent ground/shield connection. I later confirmed this.

When I contacted Lava about warranty return they said to return it after it completely failed (no signal through the cable). I guess they consider an intermittent static noise acceptable.

I’m sure others have no issues with their products or policies, but this experience has driven me away from Lava.

I wouldn't take that response from Lava. Just say it's dead now. An intermittent cable or a dead cable is useless. Did Lava email you that response? Use it against them.

I bought a lava cable probably 10 years ago and it arrived dead. Sent them an email and they apologized and shipped a new one right back out. Use it from the guitar to the pedalboard a few times per week. I step on it, unplug and plug back into multiple guitars, and it is still solid. I think I bought it right before the original owner lost the company in a divorce or something if I remember correctly. Maybe things have changed over the years.

Just resolder it. There are two wires either the solder joint is cracked or the signal wire gave way a bit up from the solder joint. To me it’s not worth it to hassle with returning one.

Damn that sucks

I've been using the same Lava Retrocoil as my main cable for several years now and have been impressed by it's durability; hope it lasts me many more years
