these dudes are good friends of mine so i thought i'd share this here, it really sucks to see this...if anyone in the area knows anything, or knows someone who might PLEASE get in touch with me (pm, post here, or whatever) or hit the band up http://www.myspace.com/lecherousnocturne

In Houston, TX, at approximately 2:15pm (Central) today, Lecherous Nocturne's tour van and U-Haul were stolen from:

Edwards Theatre (IMAX) - in Houston - I'll get you an address as soon as I look it up.

Tentatively, it looks like:
7600 Katy Freeway

It was stolen out of the parking lot - it seems that the drivers side window was broken out to gain access.

It is:
silver/grey - stock black/dark grey pin-stripe
Ford E150 - hightop conversion van
1991
Plate: SC 517-VVY
Had an attached U-Haul trailer - unknown tag

EVERYTHING is in the van - PLEASE, help find it immediately!!

That fucking blows.
Good luck to the Lecherous guys getting their gear back.
Was any of it insured?

Hmm I know exactly where that is,,, I didnt think it was a bad neighborhood

no idea about the insurance thing

i know if your'e just playing local shows etc. you can get gear insured pretty easily, but when you go on tour it gets a lot more complicated

Damn, how does that happen? That doesn't look very conspicuous to me. I guess trailers are a target, period. Must be like a treasure chest to the mind of a thief.

Well, a movie theatre's a good place to knick something... If they see you go in, they know they have roughly 2hrs before you're possibly coming out. Hotels and restaurants are different... A lot shorter time for dinner and someone might go get something from the van, and yeah, nighttime might be an opportune time, but some folks keep weird hours, it's usually really quiet so you're easily heard.

And, no, I haven't done this, just makes sense.

bands get trailers jacked A LOT...when someone sees a passenger van from another state with a uhual attached to the back of it, it makes a real easy target

i see so many naive young bands who blast their band name and website right on the side of their trailer; put fender, mesa, prs, etc. stickers all over it, because it makes them feel like rockstars (that wasn't the case with these guys i know) never stopping to think that's like walking around holding your wallet open expecting the contents to be safe

One idea I've heard that sounds like a pretty good idea is... Put a random church name stenciled on the trailer. Theory is, there's less people out there that'll rob a church than that'll rob just anyone. Now, doesn't work so much if they see you around the gig or it looks obvious or something... Nothing's fool proof.

that's like the 3rd or 4th total ripoff that's been posted for this year in Texas? couple were Dallas, but damn.

That's exactly the kind of nightmare I was dreaming up when I moved ALL of my stuff behind my jeep down here in a uhaul JUST like that (that looks like a 5X10 to me). My friend and I drove straight from Vancouver to LA without stopping (took turns), though we crashed for like 5 hours at a holiday inn in hollywood b/c we got there too early to start moving in (like 3am or something). I've got an immobilzer on my jeep so its hard to steal it, and we backed the trailer door up against a cement wall and had locks/chains up the wazoo and there was a security guard on duty the whole 5 hours we crashed. And I was STILL worried, lol because of exactly this kind of thing. I really hope they get there stuff back, but I dunno how likely that is.

If anyone's been ripped off, I know it doesn't help a whole lot, but someone getting what they deserve does help a little... And now for the story. :)...

A friend of mine does sound around BR and is in a band or two. Well, one night, their practice space got busted into and they lost practically everything... He had two Mark III full stacks, original owner, plus a ton of other stuff. SUCKED. A couple of weeks later, he was setting up his PA gear for a sound gig, went up on stage and started micing amps and stuff. They looked AWFULLY familiar he said... except they looked like they were road-worn to hell and back. Sliders broken off, markered up, trashed. He looked behind one of the amps, and noticed the speaker cable... was HIS speaker cable... from a music store 5hrs north of BR, and I think it had been closed for years, whatever it was, he knew it was his cable.

Well now, my bud's about ~350lbs, 6'3", looks like a metal viking... nice guy, but could prolly do a lotta damage if he wanted to. Instead of getting the pliers and a blow torch, he finished setting everything up like nothing was wrong... "Went to the truck to get something", and to call the cops. Anyway, he runs sound for a couple of songs until the cops show up, walk on stage, and arrest the band mid-song!!!

Gotta love a happy ending. :D

I can't for the life of me fathom ripping off another musician's gear. Its so much more infuriating :gethim:

Yeah man, it's gotta take a certain mindset or something... who knows.

Yeah, now that's definitely just retarded. May as well just get a big bumper sticker that says, "THIS TRAILER IS FULL OF EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENT, SO PLEASE STEAL IT."
