Left my amp on standby all night ...

Once left an SLO powered on for a few days (maybe longer) in our practice space.....I had an old Chandler Digital Echo plugged into the effects loop. When we came in for some jammin' and I noticed it I was worried and pissed. Amp was obviously ok but when I flipped Stanby to ON...some surge went thru somewhere and fried my Chandler Delay. $350 down the drain.

Dirty amps and clean laundry. Each take time to break-in or break-through the dirt.

I've done that on purpose...after throwing in brand new tubes prior to a recording session...I wanted them to sit and get hot to "break in" as much as they could.

Tubes do not break in. They wear out. Only thing you did was heat the filaments which in turn heats the cathode. No current was flowing from B+ to ground.

I prefer Tattoos and Dirty Girls to dirty amps and clean laundry.

Did it make a difference?

They weren't smoking hot, per se' but keeping them "hot" for an extended period of time I feel helped "burn them in" prior to firing up the amp for recording. Better than nothing, I suppose.
