I just got a les paul axcess and am trying to find out if the trem arm can be made to stay in place and stop flopping around. Is there something to tighten?
Thanks in advance for the help.
heres the obligatory ngd pictures from the dealer:

Doesn't your arm have a small "wheel" that threads onto the bridge to keep the arm in place? You can really tighten it to keep the bar where you leave it, or leave it looser where it will simply swing around. Its the same type of setup that appear to be on the newer floyd type bridges.

It has a collar that tightens the arm to bridge but has no effect on the arm moving.
I thought tightening the collar would get it done but it doesn't.

Well, mine will get it nice and tight. Sounds like the collar is messed up but you can order a new arm from Stew Mac or wherever that should, in theory, take care of your issue.

I also think its a part that will eventually wear from use...

Nice guitar BTW. I love mine, and I put a Suhr Aldrich in the bridge position and it just smokes, as opposed to the BB2 or whatever was in there originally.

The collar on mine is attached to the bar. There is a tiny washer/spring under the collar and what looks like a screw on the bar but it has no threads and no head to tighten it.
I'm scratching my head on this.

The post on the bridge appears to have no threads...I can't quite tell. That isn't right.

I take crappy pics, the post on the bridge has threads and the collar on the trem arm goes over it and screws on.
Seems like the little post on the arm should have threads so you can extend it and tighten arm when attached

I am planning on an aldrich bridge too, did you leave stock neck pickup?

Yeah I left the neck pickup alone, I like it. The Aldrich @ the bridge really makes a difference over the stock pup IMO.

Unfortunately Gibson decided to cut a corner and cut costs on the Axis LPs and they use the same lower price, lower quality Korean made "original" Floyd Rose as Charvel does on the Production models.

You can tell the difference 4 quick ways between a German made real original Floyd and a Korean made "original" Floyd. There are tons of other differences but these are the "at a glance" ones:

The saddles on the Korean one angle down at the back where German Floyds are flat all the way across the top.

The Korean ones don't say "Made in Germany" on the bottom (obviously).

The Korean ones use a zinc block instead of brass like the German ones. There will be no brass showing around the holes for the trem springs and the grain of the zinc block will be very prominent looking coarsely brushed.

The trem bars are notoriously sloppy and loose on the Korean ones. 9 out of 10 will never get snug no matter what.

Here's even more info on the differences if you're curious...

The fix (aside from buying a real German floyd) is to just but a real German original Floyd replacement bar. Works perfect and will properly get tight and not swing around.

Any suggestion on where to get the bar?

Its just a 6mm thread if I remember correctly... You can make one with just some simple bar stock. Also have your tried using some teflon plumbers tape?

I have no skills to make one, but I got it tightened down good now.
Thanks for the replies.
