I have an '07 LP Studio with a set of '70's T-top humbuckers installed that sound great. However I would like a bridge pickup that sounds pretty much like the T-top but thicker on the unwound strings, especially on the higher frets.
Detroiter LP users, would the MCP Detroiter do this?

The Detroiter bridge solved the same problem for me in my G&L Strat - it was weedy and sterile up the fretboard with a Seymour Duncan JB and a Bare Knuckle VH2.
With the Detroiter the wound strings are thick but tight. And the unwound strings get thick and juicy high up the fretboard.
Awesome pickup all round but especially good for lead playing.

Thanks. Your description sounds exactly like what I want.

How did the Detroiter compare to the VHII?

.....but don't rule out the MCP 2nd Degree Black belts in your Les Paul, either.

2nd Degree BB's sound fantastic in a LP !

Very different sounding to me. If your really into t tops find a used mcp t wreck. There is one on tgp but floyd spaced. Ive had a detroiter in my lpc for a month. Its better than anything ive put in there including my go to wcr godwood. From my limited mcp experience detroiter and hothead Im very impressed. The are alive all over the fretboard pick squeals very easy great sustain vintage yet modern not sterile. I think if you put one in youll forget all about t tops. 2nd degree bb is lower output so maybe closer to what you want

What about it did you prefer over the godwood? I've tried a godwood set once in a parker guitar and it was amazing, but then again the detroiters also sound phenomenal in my '93 SG.

I still love wcr gw and have one in my main Lp however this custom I have was rejecting everything I put in it. Perhaps it is a weird sounding gw because they almost always work for me.

Ive got a detroiter set in my 90's lp studio lite and they just kill! Its just got more grunt and thicker mids than my buddies 70's standard with t-tops... His bridge has gotten so microphonic, hes considering replacing it with a detroiter fwiw.

I've had the Detroiter in my Les Paul and while it was a game changer for me pick-up wise it didn't quite have the aggression or the balls i wanted. On the other hand, the 2nd Degree changed all that. Pick-up height is very important with these pick-ups also.

I have a MCP problem now and want to try a bunch of them

I thought the Detroiter was hotter than the 2ndBB? His pups are definitely awesome, try a couple and you want to try them all. I only wish he would update his fucking website already!!!
