Les Paul bridge position pickup spacing

F-spaced or Standard.. Right now I have a F-spaced in the bridge and it seems off on the lastpole peice. However I measured and it looks like a standard spacing will be off as well. So whats the better pick? I measured 2" exactly on string spacing. F spaced measures 2.1", and I think standard is 1.9"

I hear people say standard on neck, f-spaced on bridge. :confused:
 
Usually I have heard the following in regards to the pickup spacing:

F-Space (Fender) - Best when used in the bridge position on tremolo equipped guitars (Vintage style and Floyds primarily).

Standard (Gibson) - Best with your Gibson style bridge setups, as well as tremolo systems like a Kahler. Also tends to be suitable in the neck position on most guitars.
 
I guess thats the general rule for pickup spacing, but there is no consistency for Les Paul's for some reason, I hear some people say F-spaced, some standard, whats confusing is both of those selections would not be a perfect fit on this one unless I am off assuming standard is 1.9"

I googled it and keep getting varying results :confused: Just wanted to know from actual LP owners if they had this same dillema
 
If it has a floyd, it's F.

If not, it's standard.

THat's what I've always gone by...
 
I had kind of a similar experience - I took a Gibson 498, put it in the bridge of a floyd rose guitar, and to my suprise it matched up perfectly - so I'm not really sure what to tell you. It seemed to me also that the f spaced was little wide and the reglur a little short.

Weird huh? So whats better, to have the pole spacing be farther from the string, or the pole spacing to fall short?

I would usually go by that standard, but in this case it seems to be the middle of both, it works nonetheless, just wondering what diff it would make having the F-spaced in there as opposed to the standard.

I don't think being off either direction matters - if it's off, it's off. I don't think you'll see much difference from one way or the other. If you got one that's in and it sounds good, I'd stay with that!
 
Get the F-Spaced one... It will work fine, i can guarantee. I had an F Spaced Duncan Custom Custom in my R7 Goldtop for months and it worked just the same as normal.
