Les Paul Custom owners, what's your bridge pickup?

I've had a JB in my LP Custom for years now and I love it, but I'm thinking about trying something new. Any suggestions? I'd like to stay with Seymour Duncan, but I'm open to all ideas. Cheers! :D

Well closest I have is a Heritage 157, and I use the Suhr Aldrich pickup. Great pickup IMHO. I didnt think I was gonna like it actually, so it was a nice surprise.

What's the Classic 57 like?

Classic 57 is not high output, but I've never felt like it's not enough, it does brutal metal no problem for me. Keep in mind that I use Diezels & Bogners. It has clarity I've experiences with no other pickup. It has the definite paf vibe in it, nothing like EMGs or JB.

I wasn't even considering Gibson pickups.

I like something high output with good harmonics. What's the Classic 57 like?

Not that.

S.D. recommends a Custom 5. Anyone have any experience with this one?

I've got a JB in mine...I tried tons of stuff (Nailbomb, Distortion, Super Distortion, Custom, Custom Custom, Aldrich)..nothing wrong with a JB!

Good pickup but from your description I'd say either the Duncan Custom or the 500T. The 500T is very high output and just sounds amazing IMO.

I got a C5 in my Heritage 150(LP Standard), and I love it.

I have a SD Custom in mine. My favourite pickup in a LP style guitar. Sounds great for hard rock.

I agree.....not a Gibson owner but the C5 sounds great. Very full.

I think the 500T is a sloppy mushy piece of shit, IMO. To each their own. I have a Rio BBQ in there now that sounds much clearer, fuller, and has great harmonics. I am tempted to try a Duncan Distortion, or a Motor City Torque though. Not 100% happy with the tightness of the bottom end, but it's not bad. Note my LP is a Classic not a Custom.

I agree. had one in a LP custom I used to own after tiring of the JB I had in it. Wanted something more open sounding but still with some push. It did metal just fine and responded much better to volume roll off than the JB and whenever I was into more of a classic rock mood it was obviously much better than the JB. If you have a high gain amp you might not want to over compress the front end with a super high output pickup. You may get some great drive but no dynamics. It depends on the amp a lot actually.

I have a BBQ in my '73 Custom, nice meaty pickup. I may put the Stock T-top pickup back in once I pot it so it doesn't squeel...
