ronnie is into his exploratory phase

why do so many metal guitar players think they can pull this off?
yngwie and vai tried this stunt as well and for me it was a massive foghorn.

i think guthrie, shawn lane, or al dimeola could have pulled this off effectively and have complex music worth orchestrating and the technique and vision to make it worthwhile.

but yjm/vai/ronnie are too much in the dumb egotistical rocker camp with sloppy technique for me.
i think that is an artifact from the blackmore/yes/moody blues era. i heard some interviews recently and those guys back then with the british accents were so unbelievably arrogant!

Is he harmonizing with a Kazoo? Can't tell if it's a Kazoo or an unlit cigar.

Wow, that was horrible! The guy's timing is suspect anyway so it is good he kept it to weird soundscapes vs lead runs. Look, it is really simple... if Malmsteen was complete overkill and sucked with an orchestra for the most part, most other people will suck too.

If someone finds a connection to the music and want to play to it what's the offense? who cares..its no crime. It would be arrogant/elitist to claim that only "certain" musicians should have the chance while others are beneath consideration.

Yeah, I'm going to disagree with that completely. I'd love to hear some examples.

Yngwie Malmsteen sloppy?
Just when I thought I'd heard it all, Rig Talk strikes again.

Pretty sloppy and might I add crappy sounding here

But hey I still love the guy...nobodys perfect ;)

Most of Yngwie's music is based on classical motifs. Now why wouldn't he be worthy to play with an orchestra?

??????? I'm not sure what the point is........... What have you done of note? And I'm talking specifically about influencing rock guitar and rock music? I totally believe that every one is entitled to their opinion but???????

I didn't say malmsteen was sloppy..I said he was overkill for the most part and I would prefer to listen to an orchestra play bach. I like him just fine playing baroque and roll! Love his playing (mainly the older stuff) but i am just saying he may not be as tight as a classical violinist when it comes to playing with an entire orchestra.

For Letekro I'm sorry, guy has great riffs but i have said it before and will say it again that his phrasing and timing on the leads is the weak link. That's opinion though so it doesn't matter what i post as an example.

yngwie was pretty insane when he was younger and it would have been cool to hear him record icarus suite originally with an orchestra back then on his rising force album as a one off kinda thing.
back then he used to nail every note with super clean technique.
that prague thing was a matter of supreme confidence and past prime skill.

ronnie is best suited in the studio where he can compose leads and refine the performance there.
i loved TNT kotnt and intuition but when i saw them live, not so much. i'll stick to the cds.

powers of ten---that was an album crying out for an orchestra backing shawn's performances. his compositions were totally orchestral, and his musicality and technique and ability to reproduce his impossible guitar parts were flawless.
that would be a rad tribute idea; guthrie playing shawn lane's compositions with an orchestra.

Man I thought this was lame. Dude is poser. Never saw one vid of Letikro and thought he was great.

and I am not a fan of rock bands playing with orchestras etc. It bores me to tears and is NOT rock n roll.
