I modded my Hendrix wah for true bypass. Sounds great.

I bought one of the Crybaby Classics recently. It's true bypass. Sounds real good. The only problem is that my brand new one is incredibly scratchy. I need to try cleaning the pot - if that doesn't help I'll call Dunlop. I loved both the Fulltone and Teese that I've had, but like you said, 2-3 times the price of a Dunlop.

That's probably my best bet, but since I'm on the hunt, I wouldn't mind to try something different (as long as it has that same tone.)

Ever used a Bad Horsie?

I've used a bad horsie before. I liked how you didn't need to step down hard on it to turn it on but the sound just wasn't there for me. It wasn't bad but it didn't seem to have the sweep of a crybaby type wah.

I have the HBE medicene bawl wah. Sounds great and has true bypass.

Look at the Budda Wah.
The Fulltone Clyde is not what I call a wah that goes deep. It's kinda bright IMO.

I actually just sold a Budda wah. Had it for years and didn't really like it, so I rarely used it.

This whole wah thing is confusing. The Clyde wah is supposed to "sound like Jimi", but it seems like it doesn't sound like the Dunlop Hendrix wah. What the heck?

Every wah is different, and add to the equation everybody uses a wah differently.

The Teese Wheels Of Fire wah is awesome. Big sweep. Goes low.

The Area 51 is awesome, especially if you get it loaded with his mods.

listen to the low note wound string shit with the wah heel-down-

+1 on the Teese Wheels of Fire WAh, great Wah. The sweep is decent, but I wouldn't call it that big of a sweep...

I had a bad horsie 2 for a while, but I sometimes like to leave my foot resting on the wah, and I couldn't do that with the Morley. I also like to leave the wah on and switch other pedals at times, and again, I couldn't do that. But I did like the sound.

If money was no object I would own the Chicago Parachute, just nasty sounding.

Not a wah expert in any sense though so the 535q I have is good enough.

This is exactly how I feel about the Bad Horsie. I just never jived with the tone. I'd be messing around on it and when I'd want it to "open up", it wouldn't. Maybe I just suck with wah pedals, but I didn't have this problem with the Crybabys I tried out yesterday at GC. Anyways, my Bad Horsie is currently on Craigslist.

If you're looking to give someone a killer unrealistic deal on your Bad Horsie, let me know. :)

I've had a few guys interested that I'm waiting to hear back from. If I don't hear back from them in the next day or two, i'd be happy to work something out

It's a Bad Horsie 2 to be exact...

I've used the Bad Horsie wah for years and it suits my needs well. The reason I got it originally was because I dislike traditional wahs because the way you have to engage them by pushing down on the switch but I ended up liking the way it sounds.

Have you ever compared how your guitar sounds when it's plugges straight into your amp vs through the Bad Horsie? In other words, is the buffered bypass thingy good? Seemed like it was on that Bad Horsier 2 I tried yesterday.

I have and unless the battery is really weak, there's not enough difference for me to care.

+1, I hated playing a gig and having to stomp on my crybaby - getting a nice giant hiss out of my amp because you have to 'toe down' to get it to come on, then end with another hiss when you turn it off. It's a lot easier to use the bad horsie because when your foot comes off of it, it turns off. Great for quick little wah licks here and there. What most people don't know is you can use a lot of the crybaby mods on a bad horsie. I took an old one apart and modded it, wasn't 100% like a crybaby but better to my ears. If you dig around on the interwebz there are tons of mods for wahs. The Bad Horsie didn't suck tone like a crybaby either.

Crybaby classics sound great too, I have one of those also, but the switching is a real pain. One option for those who really like the crybaby style wahs would be to build a super simple bypass box and use it to take the crybaby out of the signal path entirely.

love my Bad Horsie 2 wha. I love it that it is touch sensitive, turns on when you press down and starts on the low sweep, rather then the others I have had that you have to press down and engages in the high sweep, always jumps out too much for me. I also like that the general wha sound is not as ear peircing as some of the cry babies I have used. More pleasant to my ear.

I like that the what has 2modes, and you can use it to boost just a bit with the volume on one of the modes.. sweet wha! I have had it for a few years now and it still works great.

I dig the bad horsie 2, the adjustable sweep is sick and the fact that you just have to step on it to engage it sells it to me...

I also really dig the dimebag wah... really nice ! not sure if its true bypass....

I have a crybaby that I kinda hate b/c of the switching too, though I think it sounds good enough. Often if I'm going from a rhythm to lead sound, I'll be a)changing channels b) turning my fx loop on for delay and c) turning the boost on. That's three stomps on my bogner footswitch, which isn't ideal but is do-able. But if I need to turn the wah on too, (which I have to really stomp on) its too much, especially if it doesn't work the first time... I can't risk fucking up the beginning of a lead part due to that fucking pedal, lol so I just haven't been using it lately. I do have a boss line selector pedal tho which I could use to turn the thing on and off I guess, maybe I'll try that tonight. I never understood why they couldn't just have a seperate switch on the side of the pedal to stomp on, like on a whammy etc.

my RMC wizard wah is killer, true bypass, pretty big range in the sweep great for me

I tried the Dimebag wah yesterday - sounded good, but that thing was noisy as fuck. It was hissing like crazy. Maybe there was an issue with it

 I didn't care for them either.

Thump ..... did you know the only difference between a Hendrix and a regular Crybaby is just one cap is a lower value . I believe it's the .22 uf .

I have a stock Hendrix wah that I bought last summer . I was going to mod it for true bypass and maybe tweak a few other things but the project got put on the shelf . So anyway ...... if you want a true bypass Hendrix with nothing else done . Shoot me a IM and we can work out the details . Since I paid dirt for the Hendrix I can make the price more than fair for you

I also have a HBE Medicine Ball wah that has been through a few forumites hands .. it's scratchy as hell . I'm going to fix that also . That has the option of tweaking the vocal cap and the Q cap internally by tiny trim pots .

I will probably turn the HBE into a some sort of FrankenWah with everything tweakable and selectable from the outside of the wah !!
