Ok, so you've got about 200$ to spend and you want that classic treble boost grind that made Les Pauls cut through the mix and copped those classic Deep Purple tones. (at least that is what it sounds like to my ear) I also think i hear some sort of subtle treble boost on the early Shenker Stuff (in addition to the wah obviously).

So far , I like the sound/look of the analog man beano boost with the 3 way voicing switch. I'd like something that gives me options to tailor to the amp and guitar. The BBE frequency boost seemed interesting but they don't make it anymore and i think it could have been better if it had a voicing switch.

So what do you guys like?

It just kills me that a Treble Booster, one of the simplest circuits of any pedal, can be $175.

I have been doing some research on treble boosters as of late, fueled by desire of buying one.....Unfortunately none of the ones I want are particularly reasonable price wise. Here are a couple links to check out, even if these are more than you want to spend you may learn something by reading up on them.

I would be interested in feedback from anyone who owns one of either of these brands or reviews in general of anyone that is using a treble booster.

I picked up an HBE Germania Treble Booster for something like $60 bucks on eBay. It's got a couple of cool switching options (classic 'lo-fi' vs. modern 'hi-fi', 3Q switch) and sounds great through my Marshall and my Vox AC30.

The Monsterpiece Monster Drive is a great treble booster. High quality and great deal for the money compared to other treble boosters

Look at HBE Germania man. Good price and does the job really well.

I tried a few back a few yrs and the one I liked the best was the strange master by throbak. It was built with top notch parts and done beautifully. They have great customer service. I lent one out and dude left it outside in the rain , sent it back to throbak and they rebuilt the entire pedal free of charge! It sounded killer through my plexi and my 1974x.

I hear you guys about the costs for something as simple as a treble booster. I have actually been considering this one too: http://www.mpamp.com/pedal/pedals-rrb.htm Around 175$ and is a clean boost, treb boost, or combined boos with a master for output. I like the concept. As I also wouldn't mind a clean boost, this might be a good two in one option..

When I was a kid... I had this thing called a, "SCREAMING BIRD"...

Don't get that... It was terrible..

i do like the byoc treble boost but the germanium side is very noisy when using a power supply. The middle circuit is much quieter but it doesn't have mid boost toggle switch.

Thing is, at roughly 100$ for the kit or 120$ for it pre built, why wouldn't I spend a bit extra and get something that has some resale value so i can flip it if it doesn't meet my needs?

Never had any noise on any of the modes on my BYOC tribooster. As for the treble booster side, I didn't get along with it well. I have read for a treble booster you really need to have the amp cranked and for me that doesn't happen very often.

I did use the tribooster for a solo boost. Right now its just sitting in a drawer in my desk....

I'd be down for the kit if it was less but $100 seems steep too me.

I build a killer one called the "Sweet Lead" for $75. Remember the Screaming Tree? Its similar to that. Or just buy the elctro harmonics. its killer.
