LEXICON PCM81 why do they cost so much

i was looking at this processor its like 2.000 dollars why does it cost so much are the delays and reverb that much better than 2 or 3 hundred dollar unit

$2000 is a ripoff. You can find them for around $800.

They sound amazing,but yeah that's to much,the lowest ive seen was $1000,he probably thinks he has the only one ever made.

The vintage pieces that I've seen that are that price were NOS units. That would account for their "DREAMER" asking Price.

To date, I've not seen one sell, for as low a price--as I got mine... in 2006, when they were just released. (I don't want to say what I got it for), but THAT would be an AMAZING find-- finding one for under a grand-- like the pcm81, wouldn't it?

You have to remember-- I absolutely H A T E... paying retail, and mostly I don't/WON'T Ex. I got my '65 Super Reverb Free, paid $100 for my 20 space A&S Shock Rack case, Got the A&S pedal board and case (Free)... There's more, but I don't want to give anyone a stroke. -- there are of course exceptions, like w/ the Custom shop CAE gear.

hate to state the obvious, just be sure wherever you get it from that they offer a refund in the event you receive it and find it's not functioning correctly. Nothing better than buying someone elses highend gear that requires a trip to the shop to replace a "doinked" data wheel or worse, no service is available at all.
