Hey dudes,

I'm pretty impressed by the Line 6 DT25 amp.
I like that idea of it as a stand alone unit and I am loving the idea that I can integrate my current effects board into it
I have a POD HD 500. Has anyone got any opinions good or bad about this amp.
If there's something really bad about it I'm gonna want to know before I buy one.

I remember reading in another thread (not sure if the thread was specifically about the DT25 or not, but they were definitely mentioned) that people were impressed with how they sounded. From memory a few people seemed to like them.

I will try and find it for you.

If you do a search for DT25 or DT50 you will get some additional threads and a video or two.

I had the DT50 on loan over a weekend last year and really enjoyed
it for low volume stuff, the cleans and high gain sounded awesome but
it kinda fell apart when brought up to gig volume.

People over at TGP rave about them so maybe it was just me or something
was wrong with the one I demoed.

I demo'd one of these today. In a word...awesome. All 4 sounds were highly useful, and the "topology" makes each amp take on multiple characters. The "quiet mode" sounded very good, but run full-out was where it shined. I don't do clean tones much, CH 2 - Brit - sounded like a good mid-gain Marshall (think 800/900 um-modded, no boost), CH 3 was Vox-y, and would probably flat-out KILL with a good boost/OD, and CH 4 had a really cool hybrid Marshall/Mesa tone, with a TON of gain even at noon. I liked it best with the lows @ 10:00, mid @ 3:00, high @ 10:00, and presence @ 3:00. Any mode Class A/B, A, pentode, or triode sounded great with that model. I was pretty impressed all around. It's one of the first amps I've enjoyed playing without any effects...and I HAVE TO HAVE effects to enjoy my own playing...yes...the crutch. ;)

I'm likely going to grab one of these as soon as I can move a few things. I had sworn off tube amps once i picked up my AxeFx 2, but I think if I grab one of these and the Pod HD, it will probably get as much use as my AxeFx. It's a REALLY GREAT sounding amp. I've had a Pod HD before, and it sounded really good too, but didn't work out at the time. I don't gig, but I was running it pretty loud at GC, and it didn't flake out like most L6 amps tend to do. For a guitarist on a budget, I think this coupled with a Pod HD could really be a great Swiss Army Knife amp. Heck...a great first amp if it covers the tones you need - and it covers a LOT of ground.

Anyway, if you even have a twitch of interest in Line 6 stuff, check this amp out. I was not really interested in this amp after hearing most the online clips, but it's a far sight better in person. Let the GASing begin!

I played one last week in guitar center and was surprised by it, it sounded pretty damm good.

got a great deal on a brand new DT25 head a few days ago...

I am floored... I have owned the vetta, flextone, spider II, every incarnation of the pod and this is the only thing that totally feels and sounds like a high end tube amp...

The DT on it's own is awesome, cleans are amazing, class a chime, and "turbo" high gain... Plug it into an hd 500 and the line 6 promise is finally delivered. Real tube tone and feel with unlimited options..The volume is loud enough for any gig tyoo ( seems much louder with the HD plugged in)..

the DT25, hd500, mesa 4x12 rig sitting here is amazing..this is the ultimate cover band rig IMHO....

a single xlr cable turns this into the cleanest most versatile rig I can think of....gas killer! ( i also own way too much other gear!)

They are great and incredibly loud for 25 watts. I'm going to re-tweak my patches soon but right now it doesn't even reach 9 o'clock with the band it's crazy loud. It also sounds tons better than when I use the HD 500 with my Atomic powered cab....it's killer....

My DT-25 and HD500 should arrive this week.

Went back for a third demo yesterday. Considering the company of amps it's joining in my "bucket list" - Friedman, Mesa, Orange, Bogner, Splawn, Marshall, etc - that should say a little bit about this amp.

Can't wait! I haven't anticipated a piece of gear like this since I got my Axe 2!

Time for some pics!!

UPDATE:

Well...I found the "chink in the armor" this week. The L6 Link. It's a wonderful thing if you pagan on using the preamps on the Pod as your sound. Not so wonderful if you want to use the DT's sounds. If you continue to use the POd for effects using L6 Link, it places the effects pre-preamp...not good for time-based effects, which is pretty much all I use. The Pod HD on its own? Great. But I didn't buy the DT so that I could use the Pod's preamps. I was VERY impressed by the DT's preamp sounds. It just needed a few things - a boost here and there, along with effects in the right spot in the signal chain.

Yesterday, I returned the Pod, and got the Line 6 M13. First thought - what an AMAZING and well thought out unit! In the couple hours I've spent with it, it has already long surpassed the TC Nova System. The fact alone that you can "split" the signal path, and put effects in front of the amp, or in the loop...brilliant. I think this is the answer for me. Line 6 continues to impress me. I guess I'll always be a fan.
