My RP1000 is old, and tired. Debates about going back to straight pedals, now the M13 is $299. Is it an upgrade over the Digitech? I just do effects in the loop, and my own OD's up front, so I wouldn't even bother with the M13's drives.

The RP's effects are above average, at best, and somewhat limited. I'm interested in the M13's EQ's, modulations, reverb, and delays. That's really all I use. Chorus, reverb, delay, flange, & phasers. Digitech's phasers suck, as do their harmonizers, (which I want for leads, ala Andy Larocque). Digitech's can't do it.

All said, I'd be well beyond $299 buying pedals, and $649 for the HX FX is too steep.

The Nova System has been on the radar as well.

I honestly would not go with either. I honestly like my little boss GT1 better than the m9 I tried. It has all of the big boy stuff, just not as easy to get to. You can set it up specificlly to run in the loop. You can find them really cheap. I would do that, then go for the a helix stomp down the line. The m9 left me wanting tbh.

Another one to consider is the G system. The effects are outstanding. It also has 4 loops to where you can add your OD's etc. You can get them for pretty good prices.

That is far more worthwhile than the Nova system imo.

Consider the Boss MS-3 as well. Small footprint and sounds great. I replaced a G-System with it. The G-System is great but the footprint is huge. The MS-3 will fit in your gig bag and IMHO sounds just as good, if not better. Much newer technology...

MS3 also has 3 loops. You can put 2 of your drives in there and have them selectable. Then use the 3rd loop for 4CM.

The Nova System is pretty old tech as well, and I didn't find it to be very user friendly compared to a LOT of other units out there.

I think I might wait for the Pod Go. Seems to mirror the RP1000 in simplicity, and better amp models, should the need arise.

Though, the MS-3 sure seems to check some boxes, minus modeling, though I really don't need it since the Splawn Competition is such a monster!
