Hi everyone..

Looking to pick up my first rack unit. I've had Line 6 products before, and there not too bad.
My price point is around $500-$600, and although I was looking at the eleven rack system(more $$), I kinda liked what I heard when I watched some demo's on the pod rack. Does anybody have any experience with the Line 6 POD HD Pro Rack ?

Looking for my first piece of nice equipment for my home studio.

Thanks in advance! :)

It's the "Poor man's Axe-Fx" so to speak. It sounds great and in infinitely rout-able As far as fx chains and ins-outs.

Don't have the rack; got the HD500 (same unit on the floor)...for what I paid, awesome unit. Effects are decent, changing/building patches is a snap, and there are thousands of patches already built over on customtone.com

The Pro has more inputs and outputs and has better facilities for direct (clean) recording than the HD500. It is also (obviously) rack friendly). However you would need an FBV Floorboard or MIDI Controller if you want to do Wah, Volume swell or other expression pedal tricks.

The HD500 takes up floor/desk space but has all of the switching and expression pedal available, and it's also cheaper.

Only thing I don't dig is the volume changes between patches....on the high gain models it's REALLY apparent because a lot of the things that you do to get really high gain on these (doubling amps, noise gates, etc...) really affects the base patch....not a big deal when jamming as I ride my volume knob, but could be a pain in the ass when recording.

Member Fluff191 has done some really great vids with his in a metal genre(Pod Rack)...he's a great guy and helpful beyond belief. Hit him up.

P.S....you can always check the forums for a used unit.....I got mine over on TGP for under $300, and it was brand new; still had plastic on the window glass.

Thanks for all the info and the heads up! I guess it makes sense to get the floorboard version.

I'll have to look up Fluff191 and ask him some questions, and see his videos.

My buddy has the floor unit for the HD POD. The thing is great, lots of options and the modeling is pretty good, way better than the older PODs. Its no Axe-FX, but at the price, cant beat it!

I have the HD500 and an Axe-FX. The HD is a great unit that you can dial a million different ways...

I'm thinking either the hd500 line 6 or the eleven rack. If anyone has a used one, please shoot me a pm. The eleven looks like a nice rack too. Gonna keep my eyes open and see if any come up used in my area.

There is an Eleven Rack for sale in the classifieds at a great price (it's not mine - just a public service announcement for you...)

Thanks!! I'm on it. I just emailed him. Hoping he still has it!

Thanks for looking out for me

i had both, kept the eleven rack....returned the pod hd 500 within a week. no comparison, the eleven rack sounds and feels more like a real amp. the pod was more brittle and upper mid focused to my ears.

the eleven rack is worth the money for just the Mesa MK IIC amp model alone. but every amp smokes.

Thank you for that honest hands on opinion. I'm glad to hear that. From what I read, the eleven is a great rack system.

Go for it! I have the 500 and it's really great. The effects range from decent to really good and most of the amp models are done really well. Lots of flexibility with routing too.
