I use the Line 6 UX1, and I love it....but I use that primarily for Gear Box. Are you wanting to use the UX8 strictly as an interface, and not use Gear Box much?

If so, may I suggest to you this:

We ended up buying this since we already had the gearbox/UX. It was a great purchase, sounds good and is pretty compact.

I added to my response.

checked out the prices, and the UX8 is pretty much the same price in the uk as the tascam

yeah I'd look into Presonus... when it comes to interfaces, I'd go with something well known

what's your budget?
what do you want to do with it? record guitars only or are you going all out and want something TOP NOTCH?

a band, basically, so drums, bass, guitars, vocals the works. budget is negotiable (u.k). recording death metal

Seriously.....try and get a Metric Halo unit.

I have one and you won't need anything else.

If you really have to use ProTools then you're stuck with Digi Design or M-audio

well then your options widen significately.

Take a look at Presonus, Metric Halo, Mackie. there are some very nice interfaces out there.

Now, you can buy a good interface with 8 pres, or AN EXCELLENT interface with 2 or 4 TOP NOTCH pres

That's what I did. I went with a Metric Halo ULN-2

There's a new one now that has 8 pres, excellent quality, but it's like 5,000 bucks

really? hmm weird.

then go with Cubase or Nuendo, even pro tools
