Line6 G30 any good?

You guys gig with it regularly? Any tone problems?

I have the G90, it's good, really good as far as working and no dropouts...BUT, it does alter the tone. It just does, I don't care what anyone says. I kept telling myself it doesn't since I love the freedom of no cable but it has a thinning and brightening/metallic effect. It's slight but its there for sure. I'm not gigging so I went back to my cable and it's fatter and to me just sounds more immediate and thicker. If I were gigging though I would go back to it. However if I had the choice I would try other options as well.

I disagree with the tone altering...non that I can hear...anyway gigging with it is no problem as long as you get a carry pack for your strap and be careful with the battery door...other then that never failed me once in many gigs indoor and out..its nice because its small and right on your pedalboard and can use the same power supply as your pedals..

In my opinion for whatever thats worth, the G30 is not a gig worthy unit. All plastic and had drop out issues. I upgraded to the better built G50 and havent had any problems since. They're a few bucks more but well worth it. Just my 2 cents.

I had the old X2 version and it worked great. Just ate up batteries like a MOFO!
I now run the Shure GLXD16 and absolutely love it!

G50 sounds great tone wise. No cut outs, has the cable length knob, which I really like. The transmitter on mine is rubbish. Input jack was plastic and it busted the first year. It's taped up and works fine now tho, lol. Mine is 3+ yrs old. The newest edition looks better built. G50 is much better than the G30.
