So it arrived yesterday and I've been trying to make a good higain sound with this thing. It's really hard though, the cab simulations sound like shit.

Anyway here is a first collection of presets:

So the ones you labeled only as "direct" are using the built-in impulses? They sure do sound horrible.

The other ones using external IRs sound better but still very solid state IMO. Is it true you cannot upload custom impulses to any POD HD model? If so, it is completely retarded and pretty much kills it as a pro product.

None of them sound any better at all than POD Farm/POD XT/POD X3, IMO.

not sure if I love any of them. Hmm, perhaps after more tweaking?

Hi Ola. Been wondering when you were going to join R.T. I always post up your metal vids here for everyone's enjoyment. ;)
Well, the HD is a little disappointing so far. I was really expecting more from this thing. Maybe it will improve after updates and more tweaking? Still, decent clips. Thanks.

What's interesting and kind of ironic is that the guys over at TGP seem to like the HD series much more than the guys here on RT, where there seems to be a significantly higher ratio of metalheads to classic-rockers.

So far I'm quite happy with my HD500, but I'm using it more as a live unit than a recording box at the moment. And I'm definitely not using it for "teh brootlz". I'd say the best clips so far have been low to mid gain, and really show off the dynamics.

This is what I plan to do when/if I buy one. My 10 year old pod pro still sounds good live when it's pumping through a tube power section and good speakers. I'm sure the HD can sound great for live use.

I really think this is what it will excel at (and it's pretty clear that Line6 is emphasizing live use considering it's a floorboard rather than a bean). I'm running it through a very clean 100watt EL34 poweramp and it sounds very, very good. So good, in fact, that I might not be able to tell the difference between my Guytron's preamp and the POD if I didn't already know what the Guytron sounds like.

Thanks dude. Really appreciate it :)

Yeah it's quite hard getting a good sound. But check out my latest video where I compare it to my Axe Fx. I think I did a better job in this video in this thread.

I find the Plexi model pretty impressive(or rather the Park), but then again I find the Plexi model on the new Fender Mustangs impressive too... you really have to do something impressive.
