Doctor Love
I just upgraded my firmware on the Line6 PodGo and now I'm at 2.0! Woo hoo, right? It was easy enough, but what's under the hood? If you're going up a full version number, you'd expect a lot of cool new, sexy gadgets. Alas but there are only a handful of new amps and pedals. Huh? What?
The real "get" with this upgrade are the all new cab sims/IRs. Not sexy at all. But a major step forward in sound quality and also addresses what has long considered to be a shortcoming of the Line6 PodGo!
So let's pop the hood on version 2.0 and make some joyful noise!
Celebrate Mediocrity!

I still don't think the new cabs are great. They're better. But they're not great. I'd rather use my IR's.

I'm not super knowledgeable about IR's but I do think it sounds way better than before after the upgrade. Still bold to pronounce it 2.0 though

They're not complicated. It's just a file you drag into the POD's IR library and you use instead of a cab block.

I don't have the POD, I have the HX Stomp. Did you not get the new models? I think they have something called the Oblivion for high-gain. And then a 2203 model that's supposedly good.

I've honestly stopped experimenting with the models. There's nothing that I like better than the Recto model. I dig the Revv Red and the 5150 models, but that's about it, honestly.

Yeah it's not that it's complicated, I've just not had time to really even evaluate the first set of built in cab sims.

Not worth taking the time, IMO.

You can tweak and tweak and tweak and get them sounding decent, then load up any IR from someone who spent some effort dialing it in like OwnHammer, Josh Middleton, whoever... instantly better, LOL.

Alan, you should try the POD GO, just for FX, in 4 Cable Method with your EVH head.
The POD GO sounds amazing in 4CM. Better than my Helix ever sounded.

Will do! Was also going to try that with the Mooer GE250 as well. Thanks!

The tweak and tweak and tweak part is why I dumped mine after just a few days. And that's just using it for effects only. It sucked the life out of the amp from the get-go, and playing around with 20 different input levels, global this and that, jumps in volume adjusting just in an effect itself was a fucking royal pain in the ass. I find it funny that my old dinosaur RP1000 sent it packing. It's still a better unit.
