Listening to Ace Frehley on vinyl. Still best of the four!!

I've been a KISS fan since around 76' when I was a little kid and my cousin got me into the band. He had all of the action figures, the albums, the posters, etc. So now I even have a bunch of collectibles myself.

I know this has been discussed so many times but still blows me away how much Ace Frehley's solo album stomps on the other three member's solo albums. Just destroys them. I'm sitting here listening to his solo album on my turntable (like the old days) and just jamming out.

Any KISS fans that have listened to the other albums know that finding even a morsel of rocking KISS on those is like finding a needle in a haystack. Ace's is rocking all the way thru. When I was a kid, I liked some of the songs on Peter Criss' album but I think I may have had some mental issues or something....LOL. That album sucks.

Anyway, had forgot how much this album rocked. I think Ace will always be everyone's favorite member like George was for the Beatles.

I might have misunderstood your post but if you don’t think Paul’s album rocks you need to listen to it again . I actually like Genes too . Aces is indeed badass but I like Paul’s a bit more

Oh yeah, there are some good songs on both of those but in my opinion Ace's record is straight ahead rock the whole way thru and more raw (which is expected I guess).

I actually listened to Gene and Paul's again briefly and you are right, there are some great songs on there. I think I actually like Gene's more out of the two.

Man... Peter was my favorite member when I was a kid. I still like a couple of songs on his album. "I Can't Stop the Rain" in particular.

As an adult... I realize how bad Peter was all around. LOL . Eric was SUCH an improvement on drums. But back when I was a kid, I thought that Eric singing "Black Diamond" was heresy.

No doubt about it. Ace's solo album is the best. "Rip It Out" is my favorite track on the album for sure.

I have a pretty decent KISS Kollection myself

Gotta go with Paul's. Barring the utterly atrocious "Hold Me, Touch Me" schlock, his album just has alot of depth to it. Tonight, Take Me Away, Love in Chains is fantastic stuff and Bob Kulick gets alot of room to shine on that album. Used to love Ace's but hard for me to listen to now for some reason. It's still my second favorite. As a massive Kiss fan though...Ace's album was probably the worst thing that ever happened to Kiss. Ace stopped progressing as a player and because of his album, they pushed Ace more to the forefront whereas IMO his strength was more of supporting role.

I thought Eric was great for the direction they took in the 80s but I much prefer Peters playing on the early stuff . His style really helped shape the early KISS sound

Gotta go with Paul's. Barring the utterly atrocious "Hold Me, Touch Me" schlock, his album just has alot of depth to it. Peter’s album is right up there worst all time. Lol. It’s just awful. Ace and Paul’s were the best. Gene’s was okay. Radioactive was killer as was Always Near You/Nowhere to hide.

Agreed, Ace's kicks ass, but I do like Paul's a lot too... it does have more breadth. Gene's and Peter's, meh... although I have to admit to liking a few of Peter's back in the day. If you listen to Peter's early drumming there's actually some badass jazzy stuff in there, but seems he lost that along the way and became very simplistic at some point. Would still go see them if all 4 originals reunited, but not as things stand now.

LOL, sounds like we had the same experience. When I was a kid, it was all about "oh man, he looks like a cat" and looked like a badass. I seriously thought Ace was a woman when I was a kid too. LOL. Like you, when I got older I started realizing that he barely did a damn thing, primarily later on when he got into his drug stuff. I do remember wanting to burn down KISS HQ when "Smashes, Thrashes, and Hits" came out and Eric was singing "Beth".

We ought to see what KISS stuff the other has and see if there is anything worth trading or selling. I got a lot of magazines and then random stuff here and there.

Seeing Ace in those old TV-show interviews and his manic laugh (with Gene cringing next to him) always cracks me up.
