Little help please - Marshall value

I’ve done so much damn reading trying to get all the 80’s Marshall variants and years and which are worth a go or not. I’m thinking about this one, need some Marshall help if this is a good deal or not?

2203, 2204, 2210, different years... I’m not a Marshall historian. Any help appreciated.

I have a JVM and love one setting on it. just looking to get a good 80’s JCM 800 at a good price.

Also, if you have something better, let me know. Looking for something I don’t need to change the caps, I’m ok to change tubes, but that’s the extent of my ability.

It looks kinda cool with the extra gain stage and all, it look decently done with shielded wire. I'd play it first if you can just to see how it sounds. The filter caps are original but if they are not bulging, leaking or if the amp is not excessively noise they can still be good. It looks like possibly original GE6550's as well, win in my book.

I'd offer 1K and see if he bites, amps haven't been selling up by me, I'll bet your area is not much different... especially now with the cerveza bug.

I would ask more about this mod. Who did it, when, how does it work, etc. The guy is saying it can be taken out of the signal but it's not clear how. I'm not an expert though either. Seems like a fair deal. What year is the amp and are there any clips is what I'd want to know also. Also, I think the condition should be listed as "very good for its age and modded status". The fact that it was modded already takes it out of Excellent. Excellent for an amp this old means it would have to be sitting in its original box and only played once kind of thing (with no leaky caps of course).

Yep, that's a decent deal..I'd get it. For better/worse that's what they are going for these days...1500 or around there for JCM 800s and that's even for the horizontal intputs. Only way to get them cheaper is with an eBay auction..I got my 82 2204 for 1150 shipped 8 months ago. The market is what it is.

I concur with Racerxrated. Price is good and I will ad the 2204 50watt vertical input is very desirable. I would love to have it myself. Grab it if you can. Good luck.

The worst thing is you would have to mod it back to start which shouldnt be a super difficult task. There are lots of schematics and layouts out there to help you out.

I spent the night jamming on my JVM205h, damn I really that, really just 1 setting, but it's absolute bliss. 3D sounding. Can't wait to try a real 80's JCM 800, never played one, ever. Hard to believe I've gone through just about every amp in the world except a SLO and 80's JCM Marshall.

The guy said he didn't know who did the mod, he bought is used. But he said it was an added preamp tube gain stage, only on the high input with a volume knob on the back. So we'll see tomorrow...
