I've seen Steve a half dozen times
over the years, one of my favorites!!
He is Flawless, every time. He is a
living embodiment of Guitar playing,
Steve is a Musician's Musician.
Petrucci, Timmons praise Morse.

As unconventional as Steve can be, he has an incredible technique. I bought a Dixie Dregs CD years ago and was floored with many of his licks and technique. Either you love or hate his phrasing but his technique cannot be ignored.

I'm a fan of Steve Morse as well, and have got quite a few of his solo albums. Although, I can't say I really liked his tone all that much there....mostly due to him playing a Reflex with the partially chambered body. A lot of ppl tend to give him shit over his vibrato, but I really think it ties into his style quite well. Great player, regardless!

All Of The Above!

Damnit I was expecting a vid of a midget playing some Steve Morse :gethim:

I'm one of the guys who bashes his vibrato, but I've been a fan since Jan 1981 when I bought the Guitar World Magazine with EVH and the dragon guitar on the cover (I didn't even play guitar yet, but I BEGGED for one after buying the magazine (thanks grandma)...Anyways, came across this the other day and hope I'm not hijacking the thread, but this is killer.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. The GW magazine had an interview with Steve and I loved that crazy Telecaster he had.

I love Steve's playing. I do not like his tone. I saw the Dixie Dregs live and his tone suck really bad, but his playing was great.

...agree, it can be as stale as Steve Howe's tone sometimes

His new solo album ain't bad though (Out Standing in the Field), quite a bit heavier than his other stuff.

I saw Steve a few months back in
Boston, MA. at the Berklee Performance
Center and his tone was Killer!
I owned his ENGL Morse 100 signature amp
and it was a fantastic piece of equipment.

I remember the old Morse tone, it was
not very memorable.
His tone has improved 1000% since he got
his ENGL signature head, probably inspired
him also. His tone was Heavier and the lead
tone just sang beautifully.

Yeah Inca.
I had my Ipod on random in the garage today and one of Steve's latest songs came on and I was reminded of how much better his tone is lately. Previous to the Engl, I don't know if he really had a "signature" amp that people would identify him by (somebody correct me if I'm wrong here). He always seems to focus on the guitar aspect, and less on the amp.

I think he used a Peavey Ultra for a long time.

Morse is one of my biggest influences. His vibrato is hit and miss, but when he is really on fire his vibrato is sick. I have heard great tones, and not so great tones from him. I strongly dislike his Engl tone, but I can see why some people would like it. I liked his Silver Jubilee tone.
