Hey RT,

So, the other week I gave in to a deal I saw online.

A G&L legacy, in nigh on mint condition, with the exact same specs as a Strat I dearly loved and let go of some years ago.

The guitar had a set of Bareknuckle Mother's Milk installed, which I was planning on selling and replacing with a set of Planet Tones I was custom building out.

Welp.... Had to return the guitar.

What a damn shame.

Absolutely beautiful maple used for the neck.

Felt great.

Someone beveled the frets too close on the high side. I can see where they were trying to address fret sprout and filed to far in.......DAMN.

At least Music Go Round gave me a full refund, including shipping costs.

At first they were like "It is probably player preference, but we will check and see."

Nah, they agreed someone messed up the frets.

Wife asked if there was anyway to fix it other than a refret. Nope. Side note - cool AF that she knew that was the solution.......

Apologies in advance, I took screen shots from a video documenting the error(s).

I guess I deleted the previous photos and replaced them with the boxes/packaged up ones.

I know the nut is pushed a touch far to the high side, and I could also have tried to change spacing to partially mitigate the issue - but the frets were jacked.

Hard to see here, but some of the strings were resting on the bevel point, which moved in and out.

I can see they sat on the opposite side of the neck and filed towards themselves, causing the 'U' inward and leaving file marks on the board.

Wasn't as bad on the low side, as that side was clearly facing them when they did the work.

Ugh. They went lazy on it and messed up a guitar.

Sucks a bit extra because I specifically called in and spoke with someone about the frets condition.

Other than the beveling, they did look great, so I can't blame them too much there.

As an aside, the Bareknuckle Mother's Milk were some of the worst sounding strat pickups I have ever heard. I am not exaggerating - Chinese and Indo knockoff sets have had a better sound to them.

I was shocked at how bad they were. I did not look at the internal wiring, so there could be something funky there like a grease bucket or something but damn did they sound shrill.

I get people like a scooped strat sound, but this was all of the scoop and thin top with none of the stratty goodness.

By the time I would have sold the set and stuff, I would have gotten the guitar for like $600. For a Fullerton standard, I had to give it a shot.

Whoever messed this guitar up - fuck you - that was a sweet one!
