Hey guys,

So some may recall that I put up some logos to narrow down what I'm going to use on the front of my pedalboards. I used Savage Pedalboards and I am keeping the domain name and will have a store there but some people brought up the point that it's too close to Salvage Pedalboards (and they made some less than stellar comments about that company). Not going to say which way I'm leaning, but which of these is the winner? This piece represents the front face of the board (opposite the player) and this is where I plan to carve the logo.

Both are cool. Woodworks opens up the option for more cool things down the road like guitar stands or custom heads, racks, etc...

This.

And Woodworks allows others that are not on this site, to know that you can do pretty much ANYTHING wood related. Just on the off chance that a stranger might think that you were strictly in the business of "only" making pedalboards.

Great work, by the way

I've never heard of "Salvage Pedalboards," so I personally wouldn't sweat it.

Greatly appreciate the input guys. I'm actually surprised that it's almost 50/50 but I guess that's not necessarily a bad thing.

I would say Woodworks if you're going to branch out and do other things. BUT if you want to concentrate on Pedalboards, I would use Savage Pedalboards.

Well, I've been branched out for over 3 years now but am narrowing down my focus right now. :) Here's what I posted on another forum:

The two primary products I'm focused on right now are pedalboards and urns (cremation...). Quite frankly, I think the urns will have a wider market (doing both human and pet versions). I also do tap handles for kegerators.

Ramble on...

I'm currently operating as Savage Woodworks and since manufacturing is where I want to be, will definitely keep that name around. My real concern with Savage Woodworks is it potentially being too broad and having too many product types on one site, however, web stores are pretty slick nowadays so I can manage inventory and all things sales for multiple stores and thus, domains using a single interface. So I'll keep the pedalboards up at http://www.savagewoodworks.com but also have a store with only pedalboards at http://www.savagepedalboards.com. That said, I really want to deal with distributors and retailers moreso than consumers, and have a lower margin but higher volume business model. Time will tell how it all unfolds. Right now I'm just happy that I've finally settled on a couple products to focus on because while the pedalboards are still a small niche market, I've been meandering for the last few years and jumping all over the place with my products.

Oh... I've also got a great local customer that I make fluted columns for and would love to grow that business, but not focusing there at the moment.

Ramble off...

Woodworks

I will eventually want an extension cab for my old MKIIC built. Seeing a pedalboard guy only seems to close off much of what you do.

Definitely Savage 'Woodworks'. Opens up a huge scope- you could be commissioned to make guitar headstocks which would be very cool.

def Savage Woodworks, that kind of nails yourself down if you go with pedalboards.

Thanks guys. I didn't really explain in this thread that "pedalboards" would only be used to identify my pedalboard line. Nonetheless, I think I'll stick with Woodworks for the external branding on the boards.

I think the company name should be Savage Woodworks. Beneath you corporate umbrella you could have Savage Pedalboards, Savage Cabs, Savage Wooden Spoons, etc...

Pedalboards.
If nothing else Google search engines will jump over it in guitar related word searches :dunno:
