I'm dig'n my Lonestar especially with the BB preamp in front, however, I'd like to get just a tad bit more gain than the Lonestar has but keep that fat creamy tone...Electra Dyne?

Polls not working for some reason. The EDs are cool for sure, but the LSC is a highly underated amp IMO. Lots of great usable tones with that amp. Especially with an OD. But the ED has more gain from what I could tell. You should be able to get thick lead tone from the ED.

Yeah, I don't know what's up with the poll. I tried deleting it, re-creating it several different ways...'still no work.

I really like the Lonestar but wish I had just a little more gain on tap.

I vote ED, from the reports, that amp seems more of a rock amp. I am hoping to try one out soon, I have a little Electra Dyne GAS. :scared:

If you want a bit more gain and want to retain your tone get a Rockbox Boiling Point OD, lots of gain and is great at keeping your amps character.

If you want to change the character and make it a bit more aggressive get a Tonefreak Severe.

Those are two great options IMHO if you like your amp but want just a bit more from it. If you do not like the tonality of the amp then switching amps is an option, but the route above is less expensive, no shipping on your part and you get what you want. YMMV as this is IMHO and that is all.

I would suggest some overdrives as well. I have an ED and a LSS (not LSC). I like both tones but they are very different. If I had to pick one amp it would be the ED, but thats just me.

Another good pedal is Tonefreak's Naked Od. It will add hair and keep the character of the amp.

Tone chasing...this truly is a sickness.

I'm relatively happy with my current tone but I'm still starting to GAS for an ED...I need help! :scared:

ED is killer, but the LSC is one of my all time favorite amps.

People always say the Drive channel sucks, but that is absolutely not true.
It is NOT for tight metal rhythm, but it kills* for EJ-type fat, warm rich melodic leads.

*Turn the bass down to like 1.

Hey, I agree...I dig the tone of the Lonestar, and yes, I do turn the bass way down. I'm just looking for that tone but with more gain on tap. :D

Actually, I have a Mark IV...'cool tone by way different than a LSC. I'm just not into the Mark IV sound any longer...I'd like to sell the IV. :D

I sold my Lonestar. Nice clean channel but the drive channel is kinda dull sounding to me. It still has a Boogie flavor to it and after you tweak in a manner that most Boogie amps force you to tweak, bass on 1 mid low, etc, then there's really not much flexibility.

Hey Boogie here's a great idea! Come up with an amp that when you raise the mids.......it raises the the mid! Imagine that? Oh yeah, the ED DOES act that way.

But really, with soo many Boogies to get them to sound good you have to raise the the treble way up, lower the bass, lower the mid, almost shut off the presence, but then everyone does almost the same thing. So where's the versatility?

Getting back on topic....the ED sounds a LOT better for rock than the Lonestar IMHO. Lonestar still has a better clean though.

Well, I probably going to hold on the the Lonestar in any case...so, I still have one iron in the Boogie fire. I played the Mark IV for ever...'got on to the "rig talk" forums and ended up getting an XTC. Now, the Mark IV just doesn't do it for me any longer.

Never played a Bogner, maybe that is why I still like my mark IV :scared: :D
