Honestly, that looks like Indian rosewood, but I might be wrong. I doubt the guy would mis represent something that easy to verify. I have a Brazilian necked Eagle and it has way more black streak in the grain than that one does (none) But it could just be a less streaked piece, who knows.. I can tell you its an amazing sounding guitar, it sounds like a 10 ton piano
If it is a Brazilian neck, its actually worth way more than a comparable Indian necked McCarty, really tough to find now at any price. Fender just released some Brazilian necked Masterbuilt Strats at sweet water and they are selling for 7800.00, so there's that. A lot of PRS guitars that were made with solid Brazilian necks were 7k to over 8k, if you see a Private Stock model with a solid Brazilian neck, I would bet they are easily over 12k now, maybe more. Maybe a lot more...
It should be easy to contact PRS with the serial number and get the scoop on it from the horses mouth. The trade embargo with Brazil has put the guitar makers in a tough spot, not because they were using so much Brazilian rosewood, but Chinese furniture makers were wiping out the supply in record time, so something had to change. All the guitar companies combined were using a tiny fraction of what the Chinese were getting for ultra high end furniture, and buying it by the metric ton. Somewhere around 300 metric tons a year if I remember right. There is a noticeable tonal difference between Indian and Brazilian rosewoods, there's not much debate on which one is better, its Brazilian by far.
Carry on
