Pickups I typically have enjoyed are the Duncan Distortion, Suhr Aldrich, and most Gibson pickups.
The strat is on the brighter side....but the stock bridge humbucker lacks clarity and punch. I need a pickup w good clarity and the ability to give some meaty/punchy/ tight palm mutes....but it has to split VERY well! I want a convincing single coil tone out of it too.

Any suggestions besides the DD and Aldrich?

JB all the way!

Note he said he wanted it to split well.. not split his ear drums when he uses a JB in single coil mode!

seymour duncan black winter or...distortion...

Anderson H2+ will do exactly what you are looking for

Nobody for a DSH+? I love my Aldrich in my EBMM, but my strat is significantly brighter....so I figured DSH+ could be perfection

Yes it will...better than the two Duncans I mentioned

I will probably go with a Duncan Distortion, it's a familiar pickup to me and I know I love it. Plus, I have an Aldrich in my other guitar...I'm guessing the DSH+ is fairly similar. It'll be nice to have a different sound.

How well does the DD Split?

It depends on the value of the pots in your strat.
If you've got 250k, the JB is fantastic.

The new Duncan Perpetual Burn is superb but I have mine with a 500k volume and 250k tone pot.

Wow, now that I adjusted the height of the pickup it sounds great!

I'm going to post a comparison clip in here in a second. One will be an Aldrich, the other the stock Fender Twin Head.

hey man, if you decide to pull the pup don't count out a dimarzio transition which is the steve lukather pup, I have 3 superstrat style guitars and one has a Duncan distortion so I can compare, the DD has more oopph but the transition is cleaner nd tighter, not as much bottom though but you van dial that in an amp, plus as you mentioned you needed it splits great as well...try a Luke guitar or listen to I on youtube and ypu csan hear the pup, sorry ofr thre typos its dark in here...lol

I'll check out that pickup. I'm a big DD fan, though :)
This stock pickup may be a little too scooped for me :(

Maybe, but the JB and 2 SSl-1's wired with Suhr's HSS wiring diagram can't be beat for split tones or full-on, IMO...

ssh+ all the way!!! splits nicely also!! really tight and punchy with hi gain stuff, yet articulate and sounds huge if needed.
