Looking for suggestions for a delay that will sound good in front of my modded marshall.
My boutique ones aren't getting the job done.
I'm looking for something for that 80's solo tone ;)

Analog? Digital? Maybe a rackmount multieffect?

Don't know of many 80's solo tone that were from delays in the front of the amp.

Digitech Digidelay works for me....nothing else does.

YOu should post your vids to prove it :)
Everyone is bored of those by now.....been having fun with the 5150 and my old rack stuff though. :thumbsup:

That's what I was thinking too... I'm sure there are exceptions-- There usually are.

There were alot of guys running Lexicon PCM-41's and PCM-42's and Roland SDE-3000's into the front of two Marshalls, getting a huge, wide stereo sound. My PCM-41 still sounds killer into the front of a Marshall.... or two. :rock:

Like I said-- there are exceptions. I congratulate you on your fine selection/taste in gear.

I use a MIJ Ibanez AD9. I thought the Boss DD-3 worked well to. But analog delay and tape delay sound the best to me. Fuck do I want a tape delay. :inlove:

rack -> TC2290 Delay
box -> Fulltone Tape Echo
Pedal -> T-Rex Replica

I have a good friend who has a Diamond Memory Lane 2 at my studio at the moment, I was tinkering with it the other night, it is fantastic. Full analog, will do anything from normal stuff, to full oscillation meltdown with sweeping the right knob. cool piece :thumbsup:

I would look into the Marshall Echohead delay. I have one and it sounds really good. 7 modes including digital, analogue, reverse, tape echo and modular.
They can be found for pretty cheap and are build very well.

I have a DD3 in the loop of mine and it's on all the time. Sounds good to me : )

Now to add a eq in the loop for a volume boost and rip peoples faces off :rock:

Hmmmmmmmmmmm....I have a line on a PCM41 for $250 :confused:

Have you tried the DD3 in front of the amp?

Nope, but I will try this in a few days and get back to ya. My daughter turns 3 on saturday and my house will be loaded with people all weekend.

Not really keen on running racks in front of amps, for pedals, the T-Rex Replica or TC Vintage Delay (discontinued) probably work best in front, especially a NMV plexi.

So what?

I need another rack delay like another hole in my head.

I've had good luck with my Boss DD-7 in front of my Marshall. It's got an analog modeler that sounds pretty good.

At some point we're going to record some new tunes and I'll post 'em...

I used a DD3 forever...doesn't work in front near as good as the Digidelay....I know it's not "cool" but it works great...play a fast run and it hides, hit the last note of the run and it trails off nicely...it also trails off when you kill it unlike the DD3.
