Well, I just sold my second Axe-FX rig. Its an awesome piece of kit, but I don't think its my piece. So, i'm in need of a another head. Looking for something mid- high gain, Marshall type voiced preferably, but not really looking for all that bite, I want more crunch, and grind.
Would definitely like a single channel, but 2 channels are also fine, I do need good clean tones though. Mid gain amps are fine, but I need to be able to coax some metal tones out of the amp as well, probably via a boost or od.
Some things I need are:
A good fx loop
Cleans
Dynamics
Takes effects/boosts/od's well
Tight low end
Would prefer to keep it at 50 watts or lower, even lower, better!

I was considering an Orange Rockerverb 50 MK1, I think that could do what i'm asking. But a friend also has an Orange Rockerverb 100 for sale locally, for a fair price. But, i'd prefer something lower wattage. I do a lot of home playing, so i'd like to be able to get the master up a little, but need to be loud enough for jamming, and shows.
I can spend up to $1500, give or take. But, I won't rule out sub $1000 amps, because i'd like to retube whatever I get, and could add some extra cash to my pedalboard funds.

check out the vox nighttrain 50 that just got released at namm 2011.

option B would be a 50W 5150 III they just released as well

if you like the orange stuff i cant recommend anything though. my opinions on them are all biased :aww:

I would seriously look at the new Egnater Tweaker 40W. The Tweaker design is great, and with two sets of Gain/Switches and Master as well as the bigger power stage, I'm sure the 40 will kill.

By the way, I don't think the Shiva or Orange RV will have a tight low end as you require. Shiva is an awesome amp nevertheless.

a blackstar 104 el34? or even their HT series is ridiculous good value, i've absolutely fallen for a ht dual pedal that is my main jangly drive/rhythm/lead tone for everything (pop a 5751 in there and you're gold =)

this should give you an idea,

i'm biased as i love the tone/feel from their amps/pedals but try it out if you can first ofc

splawn is a good bet as well for what you're after,

as much as I like other people through orange amps they're not for me, well made and all but it feels more like fuzz than crunch to me

Check out the Splawn stuff. They have some single channel heads that you may like. :D

Buy my Hughes & Kettner Trilogy. Everything you're looking for, and MORE!!

Haven't really heard anything about the Goldfinger that makes me think its what I want, nice amp, but not a huge Bogner fan overall.
I have no doubt the Cae amps are monsters, but I doubt i'll find one around $1500
Don't think the Quickrod is quite what i'm looking for either.
I think what I want is a modded JMP tone. Would love a simple Friedman mod if I could afford it. Just a BE mod, effects loop and a few small adjustments, switches. If anyones got a Friedman mod to sell around my budget, hit me up for sure!
The Blackstars don't really do it for me, neither does the Tweaker.

Yep, Goldfinger all the way!

Wow, a lot of people recommending the Goldfinger! I'll give it some more thought, and look into the amp some more I guess.

Thanks for the link FUZZboat. But it has no effects loop, and I don't really trust buying the amp from a CL poster in detroit, since i'm in Canada.
