I can't figure out exactly what I want...I definitely need to do some hands on shopping.

I'm pretty sure I want something with a Floyd Rose etc....

I definitely need something with 2 volume knobs, NO middle pickup and just 2 Humbuckers (tappable would be awesome)

Also, I'm used to a Les Paul but, would prefer something faster and something with great upper fret access.

However, I don't wanna lose a lot of that HUGE rhythm tone the LP is known for but, I do want a guitar that sounds great with leads on the neck pickup (ala Ibanez JS1000).

Price Range $1,000? or less......

I wish those EC1000FR's weren't so gaudy looking :(

a peavey wolfgang covers all of those bases :D . or an ernie ball music man. they give you a nice rythm tone, and dont sound thin at all. i have an ibanez s520ex and it plays great but definately sounds thin, since the body doesnt weigh anything ....

have you checked into the PRS SE torero's ?? they have floyds on em ...

edit: the wolfgang or ernie ball i mentioned would definately be soemthing you had to buy used to fit into your price range ..

How about a brand new Carvin California Carved Top? The PRS looking one with a Floyd Rose :) It's a TAD over budget ($1,200) but, it's a brand new USA made axe....

if you go Carvin, buy one used, as nice as they are, their resale value SUCKS.

Another consideration , although prolly a little more than you may be looking for, EBMM JP6. I have the BFR JP6 which is pricey but man is it amazing in everyway. My other guitars hardly get touched. The standard JP6s can be had at pretty good prices used.

another nod for the PRS Torero.
I picked one up off ebay for around 800 and really like it.

I actually went guitar shopping today just to feel the necks etc....didn't plug any in, I know I'm retarded....but, I just wanted to get a feel for all the necks and it ended up taking up all my time :)

I found that I just LOVE shredding on the Jacksons the best....didn't really like the ESP/LTD's at all but, the Schecters were nice too :)

The Jacksons just played like butter and I LOVE the new Green Swirl finish.

I'm not sure which one I'm going to get as I liked all of them.

I liked the DKMGT, SLAT3-6, SLS3, and SLSMG.

I'm not sure which too pick :( The SLS3 and SLSMG were the lightest by far and the necks were a tough thinner than the other Soloist models and the bodies were a good bit thinner (Worried it would negatively affect tone) however, they were Mahagony which could counteract the lack of body/neck thickness on the others. Also, no trem which was nice. It also felt like the SLS3 was a 24.75" neck but, I can't find specs ANYWHERE.

The negative to the DKMGT is that it's a bolt-on neck and not a huge fan of those for Rhythm tones (strat sounding) and the only negative to the SLAT3-6 was it had a Floyd Rose (which I feel sucks some tone). The negatives for the SLSMG and SLS3 was just that the bodies are super thin (woried that could affect tone too :().

i'll probably get another mahogany ibanez if i ever buy another trem guitar.
or any guitar actually lol. those mahogany neck through RG's with fixed bridges look sweet to me. 1/4" maple tops. RGT's i think they're called.
also i think satriani has a new signature model with a humbucker bridge (a dimarzio mo'joe) and a single coil spaced humbucker in the neck position. i watched an interview with him for it and he said something about the new 24 fret fretboard on that guitar made him decide to go with a single spaced p/u in the neck position for the tone or something. and it has coil tapping.
