Hey guys,

Curious what you all are using as tour favorite oversives these days!?

I don't have any OD pedals at this time other than my Friedman Golden Pearl and one boost, the Friedman Buxom.

I'd like to find something far and creamy that can be used a a standalone box into my clean channels but also can be used to combine with my crunch channels for added gain, saturation and leads.

I recently sold the Source Audio Zio and not sure that was a good idea. :(

I used to have a JHS Bonsai. I used to use it with my amps of 1-2 years ago and wasn't thrilled with it.

I really like Friedman pedals and so the Dirty Shirley is catching my ear along with the Xotic Soil Driven OD.

I like hearing recommendations since there are so many pedals! I have only tried a handful.

Thanks!

Wayne’s screamer 808, Chiron and guvnor…..

Tough call since there are so many pedals out there. Since I recently pulled out my stash of old MXR pedals, I’m loving the D+ and Micro amp. They aren’t high gain, but the sure sound and feel good. Add a little amp gain and the can really sing.

When I’m using some mid (and high) gain from the amp, I like to use an MXR dyna comp or Limiter to add some juice to the gain and flavor of my tone.

The Buxom Boost is a great pedal ..... what is " not " doing for you ?

Sounds to me like you should find something you can stack ...

OD1X. It’s by far the quietest pedal I’ve had; doesn’t rob lows and can actually add some.

a surprise for me was how great the muff overdrive sounds.
I have had it for years and decided to throw it in front of the fish, sounded fantastic.

I like having a variety of boost. I think everyone should have an SD1, an 808, and a Klon type pedal.

I use a deadweald Duality as my default since it has a built in gate and an 808 or TC integrated preamp. But I like swapping it out occasionally

I use 2 depending: Griff’s 808 and a Wampler Tumnus mini. Both different and I don’t feel like I’m missing anything but…. As always depends on your final sound/genre you are looking for…. I also use 2 different EQs which changes things as well

Yes to stack? I want an OD to round it out. I love what I hear of the Soul Driven and Dirty Shirley.

I had the Bonsai for a while.

I love the Buxombut use for tightening some tones and for a basic boosted feel on my highgain tones.

I use the Golden Pearl for crunch tone leads.

I'd like one more pedal, probably an OD to give me a British style crunch into clean for a different flavor and one that could stack well and be used as a lead boost at times. The Xotic SD is said to have an amazing mid control. But the Dirty Shirley would round out my Friedman settup, lol.
The Dirty Shirley seems to have lots of fat mids too.

Recently, I grabbed one of these. Works great for a few different things that I look for in an OD.

I also have a Timmy that is pretty rad. Don’t forget the buxom boost, also great.

I agree. The Buxom Boost is a great pedal. When I think of fatter, I think the Golden Pearl covers that as well. I found the Golden Pearl too fat, and tubby.

maxon od808. Could be mistaken but I believe it's the original. Regardless, should check it out!

Little micro amp is a killer pedal.

I’ve had a ton of ODs and the last year I’ve been using a humble Blues Driver.
Best OD I’ve ever had.

Wayne was blowing out his version of a blues driver in the classifieds awhile back. True bypass with better quality parts…pure win….

I need to check that out!
Funny story, I’d had the pedal for a good 3 years just sitting around.
My brother had bought it at a yard sale for 5 or 10 bucks, brought it home and I looked at it like whatever.
Was messing around one night and saw it, plugged it up and it blew me away.
I still laugh whenever anyone sees it on my board.
It’s a beast!
