Ok, I have tried a few wah's lately and just haven't found what I am looking for. I am looking for a wah with a real good sweep between warm and fairly bright and one that sounds excellent with distortion. Here are a few I have tried lately:

Budda wah - best so far

Both new and old versions of the Dunlop rack wah

Several original crybaby's

Project wah

Recently picked up a CAE MC404. I'm really digging it, and it has quite a wide sweep.

It's a little pricey but the Fulltone Clyde Deluxe wah is pretty good. Very tweakable to what type of wah sound you prefer.

Thanks everyone. I really like the Budda wah's, but everyone I have tried is different. The CAE tempts me.

I've played the old budda for about 10 years or so now. . .love it. But, I too have heard great things about the MXR CAE wah. When it's time to get another wah, it'll probably be a MXR CAE or the Cantrell Dunlop. If neither of those cut it, I'll just get another old budda.

Dunlop Rack Wah if its in your budget. I love my Dunlop 535Q. Bunch of options and sounds great.
My favorite for sure.

Teese Wizard is great and if you want to tweak it for your own sound Teese RMC 3 is great too.

Vox Satriani Big Bad Wah for me. Two inductors, two wah sweep-types, two "voice" settings, drive control. Versatile as hell, and really chewy when maxed out. Big footprint though, with all controls face-up. But that helped sell it to me, I can look down and SEE all the settings. I tried the Fulltone Clyde deluxe in the store at the same time, shootout-style, and the Vox won.

My 535Q is mothballed, along with a bunch of pedals and other stuff. I really should sell a few things, but guess I am a collector, not a trader.

YMMV,

Matt

+1
Cantrell Wah rocked. wish I still had it.

The fulltone clyde deluce was a great sounding wah when I played it, but it is also around $250 which is steep for a wah. Heard great things about the mxr/cae wah though

I got the dimebag wah from Dunlop, sent it in to them for modding, came back spring loaded and switchless, for $50!! , highly adjustable, sounds great with distortion and can be found for fairly cheap!

Where did you send it for modding? I might have to send mine.

Yep - Dunlop CFH - awesome wah!

These^^^^ RMC are supposed to be the best for $250 ish?

Id get the 5 or 6 because of the different options.

I have the 535q and its pretty cool. But if you want real good get an RMC or something else.

Make sure regardless of the choice he gets one that is TRUE bypass.
