Hey Guys.

I have been on a bit of an old time comedy biography kick lately ( Laurel and Hardy, Charlie Chaplin, Dick Van Dyke, Abbott & Costello, etc), but now I want to read some good books about rock/metal dudes.

I have read Heroin Diaries and Slash's book.

If you have any reccomendations, I would appreciate it!

Thanks!
Tony

hammer of the gods, totally epic!! also, there is another almost as good, cant remember the name.

Recently read:
Duff McKagin
Ace Frehley
Peter Criss
Neil Young
Steven Adler
Steven Tyler
Assorted Beatles
Dave Mustain
Dimebag
Keith Richards
Sammy Hagar
Both Nikki Six books (the one when he was a junkie was much better than the sober one)
Robert Plant

I'd say they're all worth reading except Steven Adler, he just wants to blame everything on everyone else and never take any of the responsibility at all. If you want any specific titles I will look them up for anyone.

I just read Greg Allmans book and it was really good. I also read Slashes and am now on KISS, Nothing To Lose and Duck Dynasty (cant stand the show but the book is Ok). I started reading Springsteens book but got so bored I bailed on it.

I enjoyed Motley Crue's, The Dirt. I was reading Keith Richard's book but didn't finish it, which I guess sums that up :D
I'm curious to read Sammy Hagar's book.

The Dirt is a great book. I NEVER read but actually read that one two times. It's been about 5 years so I might read it again. Mötley Crüe was the first real band I got into as a kid and still one of my favorites.

Off the Rails by Rudy Sarzo is excellent. Lots of stuff about Randy

Some of the books I enjoyed:

Check out "Fargo Rock City" by Chuck Kloosterman...not a biography, per se, but an excellent book on 80s rock and heavy metal.

All the Kiss books are pretty good, the tales of excess are epic, The Dirt was AWESOME ! Slash's book is great, as is the VH book "Everybody Wants Some". Rudy Sarzo's book is a good read. DLR's book is really good if you can get past his A.D.D. LOL Clapton's book bored me to death, I never finished it. I read a couple of Hendrix books that were really good, and one about SRV that was ok.

lords of chaos is decent, a semi accurate tale. One of the writters of that is a basicly a neo-nazi.
The film "Until the light takes us" Blows it away by far.

Duff's book is great.
George carlin - last words is essential if you're into comedians
Slash's book is pretty good.
Lemmy's is a must read.

I've read-

Slash - great book
Duff McKagen's It's so easy ans other lies - another great book
Ace Frehley - it's ok
Don Felder's Heaven ans Hell- it's ok
Sammy Hagar's Red - it's pretty good
Brad Paisley's Dairy of a Player- pretty good
Dave Navarro's Trust No One - great book
And I'm working on Nikki Sixx's Herion Diaries right now.

This is awesome!

I just bought 8 books suggeested in this thread (and one that wasn't: Rex Brown's Official Truth, 101 proof)  :)

Alex Skolnick's "From Geek To Guitar Hero" is worth picking up.

I read Neil Peart's "Ghost Rider" a few years ago. Lent it to several friends who were avid readers and not necessarily Rush fans and they liked it too.
I saw Yngwie's autobiography "Relentless" for sale at the show when he came through town last year but wanted way too much for it at the time. I see it for less than $20 now.

I don't have the attention span for books, that said I was glued to Motley Crue's "The Dirt" and finished it off faster than any book I read before. Hopefully that's one you bought.
