I live in an area where I can't try out decent gear even if businesses weren't currently shut down. I was wanting opinions about the Mesa Triple Crown amp. I love the cleans on the Lonestar Classic and wondering how close the Triple Crown is to that type of clean. I do like the fact the TC has 3 channels that could be setup quite differently....I'm just looking for input from anyone that has experience with these amps...what do you love or hate about them? Thanks

I owned a TC-50 that I wanted to like but just couldn’t get along with tone wise. I liked the layout and that the master volumes worked well.

Recently acquired a TC-50. It's pretty fun to play. The verb, tight and normal modes make it pretty versatile. Definitely a mesa vibe, I have had minimal boogie experience, a single rec and a 50 cal+ before the TC-50. Not sure what your wanting to know. Has plenty of gain works well with effects, has midi options galore bedroom volumes are good. Took a minute for me to warm up to it but after about a month I dig it! It's a cool amp. Can plug str8 in and enjoy with the 3 channels and verb instant rock metal tones. Cleans good and semi heavy as well. For the price it's hard to beat considering the options. More boutique sounding amps available but not with the features and the cost. Ymmv

I've heard that the TC is good but doesn't have as much of the "Mesa magic" for lack of a better term. Perhaps because Mesa is kind of considered the antithesis to Marshall, so a Marshall/British flavored amp by them feels idk "wrong" haha? Or it's kind of like go all in and get a Friedman or other Modded Marshall kinda amp?

I'm not sure what you mean by mesa magic. I saw a thread were some didnt care for the tc50 and some did. If you have not played one it's not the same going off someone's comments. Its definitely not a Friedman however its half the cost and it's also a different sound, I dont have the words to describe it. El34s kind of Brit vibe but not as much on the highs as the Friedman/Marshall thing. Mids maybe a tad lower. Given the versatility it's a good one to have with a Friedman or Marshall. I like it tons more than the single rec I had, I prefer the gain structure and the voicing options. Just my opinion of course. It's not the end all amp but what is lol

I was just referring to the signature sound, as they are known as a Marshall/British alternative...it just seems like some feel that the TC would be like if Taco Bell started offering a Big Mac competitor , it’s not what they are known for haha

Repeat: play one and then comment, it's a mesa and it sounds like a mesa. It doesnt sound like an amp it's not and it doesnt sound like it's trying to. Post a comment after you play one. Thanks

Doesn't the new Multi Watt Recto's have the Lonestar clean channel? The MW Recto's can definitely be very versatile and used for more than chugga chugga metal stuff. For the record, I do not have experience with a TC.

I went to a bunch of Guitar stores to try out the new lunch box amps, including the Boogie TC series. I could make just about all the high end, Friedman, Mesa, Marshall, etc. amps sound very similar but the TC was my favorite, although I never turned it up loud. They all sounded greatish, but nothing special and kind of had that ear fatigue tone that Solid State amps have.

Whatever you end up buying, it will be the same as whatever you didn't buy, that's the way new amps are, they leave you feeling like you ate McDonald's or Chinese food. Home cooked tone is from big iron old amps, or crystal lattice. Mmmmm, lattice, crystal lattice.
