Well it will "wear down" eventually right? I would do what Mr.Dan does.cyndicate":2wuhtqgh said:Is the only way to loosen it up by wearing it down?![]()

You need to figure out if the screw is to tight or if its just a tight pot. If the screw on the volume knob is too tight then all you need to do is loosen it up a bit and it should be fine. If that is not the case then I highly recommend that you replace the pot with another brand because Ive never been able to work a pot into loosening up to where I felt comfortable with it. I can tell you from a shitload of experiance that there are pots that are just stiff because of how they are made and there are some pots that are loose and just wail!!
The secret is to find a brand that works for you and stick to it.
I'm confused... Two people (you and MegaMark) mentioned loosening the screw that keeps the knob on the pot shaft. How is that going to make the knob easier to turn? I'm missing something here...

Please keep replies on topic. We're talking about volume pots.

When you loosen up the screw and re-seat the volume knob (usually by pulling it up a bit) It loosens up the pot and frees it up. With that said, Im pretty sure that's not the case here but you never know!
On carve tops this sometimes happens, part of the knob itself will hit the body due to the shaft not being long enough but I have only found that on overseas stuff and while using top-hat type knobs.

Well that's another part of the equasion because there are different pots. There are the pots where the shaft is split where tightening it or loosening it will affect how tight it feels. Then you have the pots where the shafts are solid where tightening the screw wont do anything.
