I have to agree with that.

Can you please give more details ? Tuning, cab, microphone ?

Thanks a lot !!

WOW...Hagen Chan 3 actually seems to respond very well to the bridge position EMG 81! My VH4 does NOT like active EMGs at all. This video sounds very good. Nice and thick in the low mids ...More saturated than the VH4, but still percussive with a tight attack...I do like. A bit gritty (in a good way), not as smooth as my Herbert. Not that I'm all that surprised...It's a DIEZEL.

Don't know - just lacks the beef that Herbert produces. Maybe it's just the recording but I've yet to hear an amp that matches Herbert's thick rich tone.

There may never be any amp that matches the thickness and general "size" of the Herbert's tone. Diezel or otherwize...Even the Uberschall cowers in its presence. It doesn't seem that the goal in mind with the design of the Hagan was to compete with the massive, overstated low-end and mid-cut option of the demonic Herbert. The Hagen strikes me as PLENTY thick in the low mids and bottom, but like the VH4...It's magic dwells in the upper mids. Just my opinion. I'm still very interested in this amp and can't wait to play one in person.

Yep, Nothing can hang with the Herbert, and from what I've listened to so far, I'd say that includes the Hagen.

You Herbert dudes are funny, why not compare the Hagen to a 5150?
It's a DIFFERENT amp, its not supposed to be a Herbert killer (they all have their own voice).
But that being said I will take a vh4 or Hagen over a Herbert any day of the year.

I loved my Herbert, and it made me sick when I shipped it away.. But I won't be selling my Hagen anytime soon to buy back a Herbert..
I love how ppl can make assumptions about how something really sounds and won't measure up by listening to a youtube clip

I had a Herbert.
I bought a VH4.
then I had both for awhile, and ran both.
then...
I Sold the Herbert.
Can't speak about Hagen, as I need to still try one.
VH4 sticking around until then, if not longer. I like my VH4.

great video as usual, Reza!
This amp sounds really good, especially with the PRS imho

Uh oh, did I poo poo on the Hagen bandwagon? Oops..... :D

Don't take crap throwing so damn serious, and it doesn't hurt to throw a little back. ;) Now go have some fun and play on your new Hagens (even though it's not a Herbert..).

ahaha this Hagen VS Herbert "war" sounds funny to me
Seriously, we're talking about Diezel here...even the plastic logo or the metal grill sounds way better than most of the amps out there!!! LOL :D

As an owner of a Herbert and a VH4 I can authoritatively say they both own and this Herbert vs Hagen talk is nonsense! It is odd that it seems to be mainly Herbert owners doing it: a Diezel is going to rule irrespective of model, guys. Come on.

For me personally...gun to the head, I'd keep the Herbert. But that's only because its voice suits my playing slightly better than the VH4, not because one is better than the other.

Embrace diversity!

Its more like dudes who have the Herbert get super defensive about so many topics, and even interject Herbert bias into conversations that have NOTHING to do with Herbert, its almost like they are insecure and need to overcompensate or something. Instead of filming a high quality video clip, or posting a high quality audio clip, they just chirp away about the only amp they own. I get it, I have played Herberts, they fuckin rock. But im very happy with the More MID voiced VH$-Hagen style amps.

Even as a Herbert owner I have to facepalm when I read stuff like "That thing can't hang with a Herbert". Designed by the same damn guy, same price, obviously it's not going to be a winner-take-all scenario! Don't let all that stop you from posting clips - it's pretty much the only thing the rest of us have to go on to figure out the difference between the two! Much appreciation!

Best damn amp-designer I know of! ;)

I love my VH4 with single coils, too; so, a Hagen with a Strat clip, please. :)

It's really funny, because the only ones trying to brig Herbert into a Hagen thread are the Herbert owners, really? They need to calm down and go play their amps instead of trig bash the new kid on the block.
1. Spell check

2. Geeze, Hagen owners are touchy.........

Seriously, with any manufacturer that makes ANY kind of product, the latest product is usually always geared towards being the latest, and mostly important, the greatest. To strike the consumer with that "must have!" overwhelming feeling to get the new stuff sold, right? ;) Just like when the Herbert came out and shadowed the VH4. :D Clearly, the Hagen is not shadowing the Herbert, nor anything else shadowing it, it's just different. Ok, now I'm more confused.......
