Got my eye on a 2021 LP Standard 60’s, sorta local.

I realize Buying without trying first is always a gamble…but Am I correct that Gibson’s QC over the past couple years has improved immensely?

At lest I’d be able to hold it pet it and so forth…before throwing down cash.

Thanks

I don't know personally but I think it has improved. I see people on the Les Paul Forum getting new guitars and raving about how much they love them. They were little sketchy for a while but from what I've seen it seems to be better.

From what I've read the QC has improved quite a bit. Of course, level of quality is subjective. If a micro-flaw in the finish will bother you, they may still not be up to par for you as that still can be an issue but from a playability standpoint, I've heard good things.

I'll be honest...I have never had a bad one. and I have had a pile of them through the years. affordable to insanely expensive. They have all been great. However they have priced themselves out of my reach. to many other great options now for less money.

What would you consider a good deal to be for this? 2021 Standard 60’s

A buddy of mine got one of the new Adam Jones Standard's a couple months ago and it came with some serious gouging on the fretboard from filing frets I would assume. There were a couple other issues as well, but after a few emails he was able to send the guitar to Gibson and they fixed it and sent it back in a pretty timely manner. Still doesn't excuse the fact that those issues definitely shouldn't have made it pass QC.

My 2022 Classic is outstanding. Perfectly cut nut, and not a flaw to be found. My 2021 SG Standard has been just as impressive. Both hold tuning unbelievably well, (well cut nuts).

I tried to sell the LP because I just bought a new car and put down a chunk of money, but it's a "good one", and I decided against it. I'm done selling shit.. I'll be out of the hole in 3-4 months, and I got the Friedman back and have no GAS for the first time in years.

All this aside, I'd still try it if it's local. Even though many have said their QC has improved, (I'd say it has), a clunker or 10 probably still leave the factory every day.

Yeah right I'll see you in the classifieds soon????? it's a disease my brother it never ends!!

They mostly seem pretty decent QC wise. Obviously there are going to be some issues with a company that size and obsessed with build quotas. The one SG modern I played recently was awesome and had great tuning stability. The standards have been good too.

My Standard is a 2019 and right off the factory line and took awhile for the lacquer to not smell like a distillery in the room. Lol. I had zero complaints and still don't for that guitar. That is one guitar I won't let my stepson borrow.
